For me it is his love of women and zest for life. I also like his philosophy on war.
The best line is (pardon me if this is not word for word) "God, he has a big heart but one sin he will never forgive is if a woman calls a man to her bed and he refuses!"

it also was a sign from Hollywood that the times were changing.
never before had a film that was looked upon as a foreign film been given such a reception
it had a quirky cast and was obviously made for low budget.
But the music, cast and story caught every ones attention.
Plus of course Tony Quinn was electric
