A good RPG is one where the story catches you within the first 15 minutes... The characters are interesting and you can feel compassion towards them.
There must be a beginning, middle/ plot and sub plots.. and and end.. but that end is just the start of another story, so the life of your character continues.

There are many other MMORPGs, but these are the 2 I enjoyed the most. Be warned though, they are both online only games.
Some good console RPGs would be any of the Final Fantasy series. Star Ocean 2 and 3 are also good. Zelda Orcana of time is a clasic, but borders the line of being a adventure game more than a RPG, IMO.

Two good RPG's are Devil May Cry 3, and FInal Fantasy 11. But it really depends on what kind of console you have.

Medal of Honor: Frontline... available on PS2, XBOX, Game Cube. Good on easy and challenging on easy but you can do well. More challenging and difficult on the other levels. Awesome visually and the sound is first class.
