Life is not about what we as the individual wants. Life is a collective experience for the greater good. If the greater good succeeds then we as an individual will have in turn succeeded. Strive for the greater good and you will get what you want in life.

You can get what you want in life, sometimes we lack the motivation to actually pursue what we truly want. As well there are certain theories that come into play in sociology that can also be applied to this question. Examples Merton's Strain theory, or Durkheim's term of anomie, along with many other theories can give some reasons as to why it sometimes seems as if we can't get what we actually want. Everyone is capable of getting what they want with patience, time, a lot of effort and persistence, and sometimes even a little bit of luck. I believe though if you truly want something bad enough then the person who desires will eventually obtain if the effort is made to obtain that possession, or degree, or love of their life....and so on

God ? I have received everything I have ever asked for in life. Maybe you are praying or asking from a false "God". I would lend you mine but God is busy giving me what I desire. I am sorry that you do not get what "you" want or know why "you" do not get what you want but I do hope that changes for you some day. Actually that is not entirely true. I do know how you can get all that you want but I have stopped telling people because they don't believe me so the hell with em. I guess that this is something that I never really wanted. LOL

I think some would prefer to settle & compromise with what they have. Perhaps for fear of trying something different or having to challenge themselves. There could be reasons that limits us from wanting things in life be it money or present situation we're in..where we live could be a factor ...or education too.

But some are quite content with what they have in life. They may not be the richest person on the street, but they're happy with their life & the people around them.

Basically, I think it all depends on the person & the question: Are you happy with your life?

If the question is "Why don't we get everything we want in life?" then the answer is: human wants are insatiable.

If the question is "Of the results we get in life, why are they not always the results for which we long?" then the answer is: you are not omnipotent.

If the question is "Why does it seem like most things I try for are unattainble for me?" then the answer is one of the following:

1. You do not set realistic goals;
2. You do not pursue your goals honestly;
3. Sometimes things just don't work out.

Without getting all religious on you. I would say it is because when we enter this world there is a plan for our lives and lessons we were put on earth to learn. Also, what we want out of life is not what is best for us, but we are given the circumstances we need to learn our lessons.

I get what I want out of life. Try another approach if you don't. Maybe try changing what you want to what you have, then you will get what you actually wanted in life.

Most people are too lazy to put forth the hard work and effort into obtaining what they want out of life.

We don't get exactly what we want in life because we are too scared to actually get what we want.

Most of the time it's something selfish or materialistic. I want to be satisfied with my life and usually am until something goes wrong, then I suddenly forget how good I've had it.
