As someone who has taught job-hunting, among other subjects, I can tell you that working for a relative, including boyfriend or girlfriend is definitely not a good idea.
Why not? Because it can lead to problems and potential conflicts. For example, suppose you started slacking off at work. Would your boyfriend if he were your boss be able to discipline you the same way he would with anyother employee? Maybe, maybe not. What if he did treat you exactly the same, and you decided to dump him for it.
FYI, there are plenty of companies out there that won't allow relatives or those personally involved to work in the same office. This policy is there to prevent any potential problems or conflicts from happening.

I certainly don't envy you. In my opinion, it is healthy keeping your love life and your work separate, if not both can invade the other (when you have problems at work they will follow you home and vice versa).

I use to but I didn't ask or expect preferential treatment. even when he owned the business it kept everything equal and fair and the staff other than myself didn't have a problem with it either.
