It would be nice to have the option to put in a date range, and have it calculate the average stock price for that range.

Most newspapers offer daily quotes on stocks. The TV offers daily stock prices on the bottom of the news channels.

On the internet, lots of places: MSN, Bloomberg, Yahoo.

Calculations cost extra. You can obtain stock prices for a range of dates, and import those into Excel or other spreadsheet, to get the average price over that range. Enter the ticker symbol in the Yahoo window, then on the left sidebar, click on "Historical Prices."
