I think its great. he made one mistake.....he's human after all... it does not take away everything he has done for France, Real Madrid, and Soccer!

I agree - I think its fair for him to be given the award. He played some amazing football in this world cup: for a man of 34 years, he put to shame alot of the young players in the tournament. The award is given based on the best football performance in the cup, and clearly he deserves it more than anyone else. Good thing FIFA didnt change their mind after what happened in the final, with all the pressure of playing in a final and being the captain, i can understand how he would blow up like that given Materazzi's insults - which I presume mustve been pretty bad. Good job Zidane! He's still the best footballer in the last 20 years no doubt about it!

He's lucky that voting occured at half-time because I don't think he would have won after that head butt.
Otherwise, no one can deny he single-handedly took France on a glorious run to the finals.
He is the best player of my generation.

i agree though i hav answered this question before im glad he won cause the incident shouldnt diminish then fact that he is and was a amazing play who is going down in history and this is what he deserves to show recognition for the fact that he got france their first World Cup

I don't see why he wouldn't deserve it for all he has done for the team.

Yes he made one big mistake, but that doesn't take away from all the great he has done.
