He is an enigma..in that he writes well, he sings well, he has incredibly bad videos..but I think that makes him all the better as a musician and a writer...there has to be something to him..I mean the guy has been around far too long to be just an average guy..he has released far too many CDs to be just anyone..After all, he sells out Los Angeles and New York regardless of any of his other dates as quick as U2 and usually has 3-5 dates in both. He draws well in most big cities. there is something to that...ok..he is asexual...but gays LOVE him..women ADORE him (I guess he was hot back in the day-I'm a guy so I could care less about that whole deal) but I can see why the ladies dig him..he is a little depressing for people who have been happy their whole life and haven't yet had a bad day...funny,...but I'd like to actually meet that person....because as happy go lucky as I am..I am not void of a few regrettable days..anyway...Morrissey can be humerous, romantic, sarcastic, witty, cynical and downright lambasting when it comes to politics...but that breath of fresh air from mainstream pop...is sometimes the SHOT in the arm that you need..

I think Morrisey is fantastic. And, your right, what is his appeal? Its hard to put your finger on what it is that makes him so special.

For one,

I think he is very talented. I mean, most of his songs use the exact same four or five chords, but they all sound unique and different and they all sound, 100% absolutely and definitively, Morrisey and Only Morrisey.

For two,

I think the people that like Morrisey are touched by his thoughtful and cool lyrics. They just get what he is saying and how he is saying it. Some of the more talented and witty lyrics, coupled with a light punk / alternative sound and an easy to listen to and passionate melodic voice makes one captivating person and musician.

In my opinion.

Not really Morrissey fan, but he had this dark nuance around his sound, makin' his music characteristically distinctive.
