Of course not. Should they have changed it to the Los Angeles Magics or the Los Angeles Kareems during Showtime? How about the Minneapolis Mikans back in the pre-shot clock era? They should change the team name because they have one dominate player? How silly.
By that logic, the 76ers should be the Philadelphia Iversons, the Magic should be the Orlando Dwights, and the T'Wolves should be the Minnesota Garnett's.

lol That's kinda funny. However, to change the name of the Lakers would be a slap in the face to all the greats, like Jerry West, Chamberlain, Magic, Kareem, etc..., who made the franchise what it is. The Laker name (as much as I hate the Lakers) is bigger than any one player.

altho Kobe thinks he is the team, there is too much rich history surrounding the team name to change it, i'm sure the fans of the team (if there r any left) feel the same way.

FUNNY BUT I DON'T THINK SO. BECAUSE THE ONLY REASON HE SCORED 81 POINTS BECAUSE HE WAS HOGGING THE BALL. JUST AS USUAL. NOW THAT'S WHY EVERYONE LIKES HIM. JUST BECAUSE HE SCORED 81 POINTS.
