on a scale of 1-10, id say 8.
the first movie was soo much more believable, even with the skeletons and the curse. i felt like i was there, on the ship, on tortuga, on the island of whatever whatever, where the cursed treasure was.
the second one has a whole bunch of awesome special effects, but i dont like the flying dutchmen. they seem too much like weird plastic action figures from unknown small-screen action shows. davey jones was weird, too. it was really cool to see will's dad, but he seems either an idiot, or just so sorrowful he cant think straight.
jack is just as good, if not better. your constantly left guessing what side he's on and always the answer is his own. he is especially funny in the "feminine running" jokes and that part close to the end when he's talking to davey jones yelling "i got a jar of di-irt! i got a jar of di-irt!" he's the coolest pirate, thats for sure!
the (former) commadore's return was really a surprise! i didnt really know whether to feel sorry or to think he got what he deserved. i didnt really like him in the first one, and he got really annoying in the second.
elizabeth seems different in this one. she isnt as strong as she was. like, knew what she wanted in the first movie, and she was determined to get it. in the second, she seems like she doesnt know if she wants jack or will. in the end it almost seems she was just loving on jack to get him to give more information, but huh, she wasnt my favorite character here.
will was okay. he seemed really bitter, which is understandable when you get arressted on your wedding day and sent on a death trap of an adventure while your fiancee waiths for the gallows. but in the last movie he was determined to give it all for elizabeth, now he seems moody and shallow.
the voodoo woman was...interesting. yet essential
the undead monkey was a hoot, i love to hate that monkey!
the ending was a shocker. it was really weird because Barbossa was...uh...kinda...DEAD!! i admit, when he came down the stairs i yelled "HUH??? but he's DEAD!! I saw jack KILL him!!!" but hey, it's gotta leave you hanging to get you pumped for 3.
overall i rate:
acting: 7
special effects: 9
storyline: 6
character developement and consistency: 4
humor: 9
action: 9
cant wait for the 3rd!!!

I would give it an 8. In my opinion, it was better than the first one because it was darker (and I loved that). It did run a little long, but there were far more interesting side-plots this time, which made for a much more layered story. Orlando Bloom's acting is certainly better in this one. And although darker, the movie still had a lot of comic moments. It also had a lot of great fight scenes, very interesting choreography which also led to some comedy. Johnny Depp was great...he played the part just right, allowing you to never know what type of man Jack Sparrow is...self-serving you-know-what or good-at-heart or a mixture of both. There was more than one villain (many times Jack himself)...which also made it interesting. Davy Jones and crew take a little getting used to...some of them might make you a little squeamish. Some people will hate this movie. It had an Empire Strikes Back kind of feel. But those are the types of endings I like best! Especially when you know another sequel is coming up. It's definitely worth going to the theater to see!

I'D HIGHLY RECOMMEND POTC II: Totally ROCKED!!!
It had a slow start and some of the jokes were a little corny, to be honest, but there was definitely an intricate plot of twists and spectacular action sequences. The special effects were absolutely awesome and Jack Sparrow delivered yet another delightful performance (that is, if you liked his last one). Davey Jones and his sea crew are pretty grotesque but not necessarily horrifying. What can I say, it was a great film--I'm actually going to see it again tonight and will look forward to POTC III. This movie was in so many ways uniquely better than the first one--it does however leave you with so many questions to be answered in the third installment. DONT WAIT FOR THE RENTAL!!!--- and in case you feel inclined to see POTC II, dont leave until the credits are over (there's a special clip at the end).
Some people may say they disliked the ending, but that's because it's not supposed to end. The first POTC had an ending because they weren't sure there would be a sequel. However, audiences need to be left "hanging" in order to have enough anticipation for the next installment.

On a scale of one to ten, I'd say it was an eight.
It wasn't better than the first one, because it's always really hard to beat the first in a line of sequels. It was action packed though, and there was some really good acting in it, I just thought they tried a little too hard on some parts. If by explanatory you mean describing the movie, then watch out, here are some spoilers.
What was up with Elizabeth and Jack? Geez, why'd she have to go and make out with him? My friends and I couldn't tell if she really liked him or if she was just trying to chain him to the ship. That short Napoleon dude was really annoying too and how the heck did Barbossa come back?
p.s. I thought that weird Jamaican lady was awesome. The monkey part was really funny too. Is it true that they've already filmed the third?

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 6. It was not as good as the first one.
Without giving away details and spoiling it for people who haven't seen it yet, I have to say that it was too long. It requires much more suspension of reality than the first one did (and considering the first one included undead pirates under a curse, that's saying something). Johnny Depp is, of course, the coolest pirate ever, but the movie had to rely too much on him being awesome to make up for other parts of it being lame.
Also, minus points for the ending.

Well, it made the most money in one opening weekend EVER.
I saw it opening day, in fact.. I was first in line for tickets lol.
(on a scale of 1-10.. i'll give it a [7] )
I dont think it was better than the first one. Simply because the second one is just a set up for the third. I loved it tho. It had a good plot and awesome stunts. It was comedic and cute, but the ending was wierd... I thought it was cool and left me to wonder how much $$ Barbosa got paid to say those three words lol.
I totally reccomend going and seeing it. Its awesome!

It was entertaining, but....
It seemed they had a lot of unnecessary things going on. It have just had the Flying Dutchman story, and it would have been great, but the movie makers padded it out with side stories and scenes that were just too long so that they could have two movies out of it.
But, cheers to Jonny Depp. Jack Sparrow is still awesome. Orlando was good, maybe even better then he was in the first movie. The villains were great, and I loved seeing Will's dad.

oh, it was just awful!! Very disappointing. Didn't make much sense because the bad guys just seemed unbelivable to me. At least in the first movie, you can belive a curse or spell on the pirates, but in this one, an octopus guy just doesn't seem real, and the ending was just terrible. Wil and Elisabeth never did communicate on why she was kissing Sparrow, or why Will would sail to the end of the earth to find him when he was trying to kill him with the sword, and saw him kissing his girlfriend. just doesn't make sense. There was no romance in it either. I would give it an over all 4 because it was entertaining, but much too long.

8. It was good but got a little ridiculous at times. Kinda like Matrix's sequel did. In the first one everything was so captivating and original. But the second one sometimes went one step further then it should have. It was still great though! Just not a 10.

i have seen it twice so far, one prescreening 2 days before it came out and once opening night (its nice to know the manager of the theater). it was not better than the first. jhonny depp was awsome, but the movie went on too long without enough happening. the plot couldve been develoed better. altough the ending did make up for some of this. overall i give it a 7, and this is def a movie you wanna see on the big screen.
