There's no such thing as a free lunch. So I say no, it's not. Just my personal opinion.

I used to think the world was Free, but everything has a cost of some form. The cost is not always monetary in nature. Example, If something is stolen, it does not mean it is free, there is a moral cost, and possibly a guilt cost involved. Even for the morally empty people who wouldn't feel guilt, there is a risk cost (arrest, fines if caught).

Also, the more I look around in the US, the less I see that is free in any sense of the word. There is almost nothing in my area that can be done for "free". It all cost money. You can go to the park and such to be frugal, but these parks cost tax payer money, it cost money to get there (buy a bike, buy a car, gas, bus, taxi, tennis shoes for walkers).

Now, as far as the other sense of this phrase. I feel there is not much freedom left anymore either. Too much of the world is dependent on money for freedom to ever mean what it should. Anyone who wishes to have any sort of real existence in the world will have to bind themselves to an institution that has rules and guidelines in order to survive. There are very little exceptions to this. 90% of this is in the form of jobs. To maintain that job, you will be subjected to rules both through the employer and the social governments of your living area. Others will join military, or perhaps a clergy.

Freedom isn't Free, it cost a lot of time, money, resources.

Apparently it isn't, everyone tries to claim a certain area or territory, even countries. Just look at the debate over immigration. There are always fees and donations that you have to pay. Not to mention taxes, and even when people say FREE there is always a catch for something to buy. The phrase should by there's nothing free in America! In some countries your medical insurance is paid for, we pay for that. Where does all our tax money go? We're not exactly free to do what we want either there is always consequences to your actions. Free world ha ha.

The idea of a free world is subjective to the individual. For example, I believe violent media enslaves certain youths to a predestined fate. Is the speech free if it weighs a burden on any part of society? I think not. In a sense the only thing free to an individual in regards to this world is death and even then it is costly to those who are left behind.

Unless you choose to live a free thinking life style where anything goes and you don't give a hoot about the opinions and views of communties, races, friends and the like then yes it's a free world indeed! Otherwise i don't think it's a free world as people do tend to conform to what's expected of them by their societies etc whether they admit to it or not.

or the most common is, "it's a Free Country"...most people just mean that they have this free will thing - the right to do anything & everything they want without being stop/scold by other people on what they're doing--
