I know that for FMLA to apply, your company must have 50+ employees. Mine does not (only about 10). It also does not have any maternity benefits. My husband and I will be adopting a child next year, and I want to be able to spend time at home bonding with our child. Do I have any rights at my current job? Many thanks.

Do what people did for hundreds of years before FMLA was enacted.

You could always ask your employer for a leave. If you don't qualify for FMLA you'll have to quit if your boss won't give you leave.

Check into other insurances like Aflack or something similar.
You could buy it now and be able to take some time off work and still have and income.

Nope sorry, just find another job if they won't take you back when you're ready to work again. With a small company like that, they'll probably want you back.
