Some say Gothic, some say Rock, I even saw it one time labeled as Alternative.

Rock. Sub category : Gothic rock. Def not pop, Alternative not likely & metal slightly.

Not a real rock. But still have a combination of rock in some songs and try to make a classical rock. Over all excellant.

I remember when people named them a Christian Rock group because of their first album. I think they are just a Gothic rock group.

it's not pop. it has to be under the mtal/rock genres... goth metal, heavey metal, hard rock. alternative. i think it depends on the song too because sometimes songs can sound like they are under a certain genre. like one song can be under gothic while another song is under alternative

Alternative is pretty close. But there has to be some Metal in there too. So many of their riffs are close to classic metal riffs, just a more polished sound. They might dress kind of gothic, but I wouldn't label them as a Goth band.

Ever heard of "Nightwish?" Personally I think evanescense is just an commercialized version of nightwish. try it you just might like it.
