You need to get a separate trojan removal software package (many good free ones, including Trojan Remover are available off of reputable download sites, such as majorgeeks.com - don't download these packages off of any old website, as sometimes trojans or malware are disguised as spyware removal software!).

Most basic spyware removal programs don't do a great job of removing the nastier trojans or malware.

You should start your computer in Safe Mode before running your chosen trojan removal software. You can do so by hitting the F8 key while booting the computer, and then choosing the Safe Mode without networking option. The next time you reboot it will come up in normal mode.

In general, if you are running XP, you should enable the Windows Firewall, which should reduce (but unfortunately not eliminate) the risk of getting further malware off the web.

Also consider getting either Firefox or Opera and using it instead of Internet Explorer, since IE sometimes has "holes" in its security package that allow these things in.
