Many reason people fog rot things, first of all age is a biggie. We as adult of even teenagers, probably can't remember too well about what happened when we were five. We may remember little things, but it's not too clear and you can never really be sure if your remembering a dream, or something from a picture or home movie.

Or reasons are the whole re-depress memories, things are brain wanted us to forget, usually something bad happened. A the brain blocks the memory out, as a way for us to move on. But those memories can be recovered, years later.

And then there is the whole short term and long term memory, going on, most who have good long term memory, have bad short term memory and vice verse.

Most of us forget because we simply DON'T RECALL THE INFORMATION ON A CONSISTANT BASIS, keeping the connection or "wiring" opening to the neurons that hold that memory. The more you recall or use a memory the more reliable the connection to the neuron becomes. When memories degrade, neuron pathways are lost and have to be reformed. Of course this is not true for all situations, there are memories that have made LASTING impressions on us, that we may consciously recall only yearly. Like something a loved one did. Great question. Wish there was a "magic" answer.

Some forget to protect themselves (in instances of molestation or abuse) some forget because of other more important things going on, others fotget because there is too much stuff to remember, or it is'nt worth remembering, but as for me I would have to say it's because of that budda I be blazing....

Let's see if I can remember from my old psych 101 course (talk about ironic; I forgot the stuff on memory....lol). Anyhoo....

...I think it has to do with long and short term memory and how we can only think of one thing at a time.

Because if our brain tries to store every teeny-weeny detail, there won't be any space left for the more important stuff.
