Since when is being married a value? What the hell does being pregnant have to do with being married? It does not make the child smarter, faster, or better than children from single parent homes. I have plenty of friends that live in a two-parent households (the parents have been married for awhile and have only been married to one another) and they are f*cked up because marriage is not necessarily a guaranteed formula for the successful upbringing of a child.
Just because a woman is pregnant doesn't mean she has to get married either. What if the guy is a jackass? What if they are not ready to be committeded to each other for the rest of their lives but she is ready to committ herself to her child? Everything is situational to each person and this American "value" of marriage is a lard of BS. Don't get sucked into.
Having children when your not mentally and financially prepared is not the move either .

Yes we have lost all of our values. why? because more and more single parents are having children. Those children are the ones having children out of wedlock. It's "quote" acceptable now! I personally think it sucks and that's the big problem with this country. It's a snowball effect. Children are being born with only one parent, not being raised with morals because the one parent does not have any time to spend with thier children. So children are spending time with other children who teach them what? They teach them that it's ok to do whatever you want to do. Not what you should do! So the children become teenagers and start smoking pot and drinking, having sex and BAM! Now we have pregnant teenagers, who do what? Raise children on thier own, having to work 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet. Then they realize that, you know what? The government will pay me X amount of money if I have another one. So (who dat is?) Ohh dat my babbies dady! There we go again.

Don't get me wrong... I started having sex when I was 16. But even back in 1986 I was using protection. I didn't have any children until I got married. But I can't change the world. Only WE can. And the WE's in the world, (news papers, tabloids, etc.) promote adultry, sex before marriage, divorce, etc.

You want an thriving economy? Start promoting family. Keep the mother at home to raise the kids. Let the dads go to work. Bring back (paddeling in school), stop giving money to people who have more children than they can afford. Maybe they'll stop having them!

Well its a rapidly changing world. But despite that I totally agree with you in wondering if we've lost all values. Frankly I think its being lost day by day. Look at the world now and what it was, it has changed drastically. Have we changed too to accomodate changing surroundings. I'm not sure. But I will say this, our downfall will be our very race. People no longer haev morals, ethics or values when it comes to cohabitating with each other. Its a selfish world and people don't mind using another to get ahead in anyway. The few that still have morals have to fight everyday for their very survival. Maybe I come off as all cynical and a little bit harsh but the reality of the world is that people no longer care about their actions.

I have a child out of wedlock., she will be a year old in August. I am 31 years old, she has a great dad. We both have values, and are totally happy. Besides I was married for 9 years with no kids and a nasty divorce. I'm not so sure that it's the way I want to go anymore. But I am not ruling marriage out.

Yes about 50 years ago we lost values. It seems cool the same way gold teeth and rims that require you to purchase tires every three months are cool. Because the media is doing its best to keep its population consumers. How do you do that you ask? Simple, show them what they want and what they need. Also remember sex is a big thing again AIDS has quieted down Herpes is on the rise. You have all these 13 year olds wanting sex because of movies and TV.

what can I say, welcome to the cess pool

I have to agree that, now a days it seems as if the majority of people have lost values... I think its sad that a baby is created in this world and doesn't have the chance to live with both of his parents... The child ends up suffering.. If more people had heart, and values they would think twice about putting their own flesh and blood through that...

It appears to be cool and fashionable simply because these young women really have nothing else going on in their lives. When they desire to have a passion for something but have no idea what they want out of life, they look to their friends for support. And being that all their friends talk about is their baby, they too want to be in the "baby club".

Sometimes things just happen, and instead of getting married just because of an accident, people nowadays want to make sure they want to be with that person. That happened to me and its not because i didn't have any values. I just wanted to know that I really Wanted to marry the daddy because I plan to spend the rest of my life with him, and not just have to marry him because we have a baby together.

Well, first of all, its not the fact of women having children before marriage. Its the fact of sex before marriage these days. And yeah, values have no importance anymore. It has been like this for a while it just happens more and more these days. The way I see it is, its their choice and they are the ones who are going to have to pay the consequences one day. Who are we to judge? It is not our life.

Remember: "Thou shalt not judge"

Times have changed. Some young women feel alone and think if they have a baby they will always have someone there to love them. )which was my reason) Another reason is they are careless and dont use birth control.
