Marijuana is not smoked just by the dregs of society. It can be a useful tool for people to unwind and destress at the end of the day, much the same way drinking a beer or taking a run can be. Yes it may not be a healthy as say running, but if you want to ban unhealthy things, lets start with fast food, which kills more people a year than pot. Also, there are plenty of people, including your boss probably who smoke. People should have a right to choose how they unwind from stress. Also marijuana is not addictive and nobody has ever died from using strictly pot. Sure there are books and movies that would argue the contrary but look whose making them. Pharmaceutical companies whose drugs that cost much more but have the same effects. The government who is deeper in the pocket of pharmaceutical companies than Mt. Everest is tall. And last but not least, the radical right wing christian fundamentalist who want to tell us all how to live our lives.

That's not to say anything of its medical uses, which to say the least can help people in extreme and chronic pain.

If nothing else we MUST legalize medical marijuana and the production of THC free hemp. Hemp would do so much good for the environment and the family farmer yet it remains illegal for the benefit of big business.

This argument is foolish at best. There are a whole lot of drugs out there that have no recognized medical use that are less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco that are illegal. There is no reason to legalize, and better yet, plenty of reason to keep them illegal.
As far as addictiveness goes, even the studies that defend against addictiveness of marijuana being a problem admit that something like 1 in 10 do gain a dependency on marijuana. That maybe less than alcohol, but it is still there. Dependency is the first stage of addictiveness, often called a habit. Some will go beyond simple dependency given enough time.
No one has strictly died from tobacco either. However other diseases have formed as a result. Most alcohol deaths aren't strictly from alcohol, rather being from the behavior that alcohol induces. Marijuana is responsible for behavior that leads to traffic accidents and other wild behavior that has resulted in death occasionally.
Actually pharmaceutical companies don't sell drugs for the purpose of unwinding from the stress. Let's cut the bull, you aren't here to argue for the medical benefits of marijuana. And smoking isn't the way to deliver any medicine including marijuana. There are better ways that aren't as much fun, but better for the person being medicated.

Here is my opinion on the issue. I believe marijuana can be relaxing if smoked in moderation. A lot of users don't know when to stop. They smoke until they are too high for anything. I don't smoke pot most of the time but once in a while, I don't see anything wrong with it if done in moderation. Some people associate pot with alcohol and have to do both. That is where I see a problem. Sometimes the high is not enough after a while and people go on to do harder drugs. Another thing about pot is that it is very hard on your lungs. After smoking, I usually can tell a difference in how I breathe. Anything done in moderation is okay I believe, if it does not harm you or others. I do not believe you should smoke pot in front of your kids or young kids. I believe it does affect how they perceive drug use.

They still believe it's negative because they are uneducated, and actually believe everything the media tells them. I don't smoke anymore, (well rarely). But my sister and brother do. (on a regular basis). Meaning rent and bills get paid, then they buy what pot they can afford, and if they can afford to smoke everyday they do. My sister has 4 kids to take care of ages 15, 11, and 9 (twins). And she was working in a nursing home as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. Making over $9.00 an hour. She was earning the main income for the home. But then her husband got a better job, ( a VERY good job) and now she doesn't have to work. My brother in law also smokes a lot, and he isn't lazy either, hence, getting the super new job. Then as I said there is my brother and his wife. They smoke everyday, when they can, as well. They have a 3 year old. She works at local diner, and my brother does the same thing as my brother in law. It's a construction job, where they go all over the country putting in cement floors for malls for example or any large shopping center, or place that needs a cement floor.

Well, here's the problem. It's like salt. We benefit from salt in our bodies, but unfortunately, we get used to the taste and use way too much of it and it wreaks havoc in our bodies. I've never used pot, but I do understand that it has its place in society. Apparently it's okay for a few symptoms, but like salt, we go way overboard to an extent that it is causing harm. If only we could use something, anything, like salt, sugar, alcohol, and use it MODERATELY. We are too excessive and almost always go too far. It's for that reason, I think, that they had to make it illegal. Too many people overused it ruined it for everybody.

God put a cure or remidie for EVERYTHING here on this earth.
I think that MEDICAL Marijuana is the cure for chronic pain.
In addition, I pose another question,
What is the (MORAL) difference between drinking to get drunk and smoking to get high?
(I don't think either are right, but, how can people say that drinking's ok, but smoking's not!)

its pretty simple. the negative stigma associated with marijuana and people that smoke marijuana began as a racist tool. it was used by white politicians to institute more/harsher regulations against blacks. propaganda compaigns associated marijuana and marijuana users with blacks. blacks, already cast in a poor light by the powers that be, became scapegoats and what became a negative stigma associated with marijuana.
