this differs from person to person. you poor thing, cramps are horrible! Myself and a few of my friends had such horrendous cramps that we actually would vomit, so we found some remedies.
1. Ginger Root Tea - - you can get the root at any sort of health food store (we go to Whole Foods), take a sliver and boil it in the tea water. Dont eat it! You can, but I wouldnt, it tastes gross. The cramps should subside within a half hour.
2. If youre a gym person, running and aerobics, swimming and cycling can really reduce the pain from cramps. Just dont go overboard, you can hurt yourself or faint.
3. a hot water bottle! :) just dont put it directly on your skin if you make it REALLY hot.
4. Sleep, if you have the time.
5. Using a pad instead of a tampon- tampons push against the swollen walls of your body and usually makes cramps worse.
We all take tylenol extra strength (1 or 2, which ever you prefer) and my friend Vik takes Aspirin because she's allergic to tylenol. But those are the drug-free remedies above! Good luck and feel better.

Heating pads can also offer temporary resolve of the pain. Avoidance of smoking (which has been shown increase cramps) and reduced intake or total avoidance of salt, sugar, high fat and dairy products, alcohol and caffeine can also afford relief, as can increasing the intake of fiber, calcium and complex carbohydrates. Recent studies also indicate that Vitamin B6 complex, calcium and magnesium supplements, and Omega III fatty acids (fish oil supplements) also may help relieve cramping. Pelvic massage, exercise (which releases endorphins, the body’s own natural painkillers), Yoga (the cat stretch and the pelvic tilt), visualization techniques, aromatherapy, acupuncture and herbs like Dong Quai, Ginseng, Stragalus root, Ligusticum root and White Peony root are also said to be helpful alternative techniques for managing the pain.

Hot bath's are my favorite.
Or get an old pillowcase. Fill it with dry rice (you can also use corn or beans, but rice tends to have the weakest smell). Tie or sew off the end, put it the microwave for 3 minutes. - cheap, homemade hot pad that you can use over and over again.
Oh yeah, and try to avoid those tight jeans, the bloating isn't so bad when your tummy has the room for it.

I am so glad you asked. You won't believe this until you try it. The next time you get a cramp, follow this procedure. Strech your toes out open as wide as you can get them. Hold for ten seconds. Now squeeze your feet up into tight little fist feet. Hold for ten seconds. Repeat 2 more times. Don't forget to wait ten seconds each. Tell me. Where have the cramps gone???? Let me know.

Excercise!!! Just go for a 15 minute jog. It seriously makes the cramps go away, and you feel better about yourself too. Good luck!!

Calcium helps me. A 600 mg calcium pill works as good for me as a tylenol. Some people say vitamin B6 helps them; but it only made me worse.
