women try to show they are better than men, because men treat them as the lesser sex. Women just want to prove they are equal, and stop being put down or told that men are better. If men changed their thinking, then women would change their actions.

Deezpumpkin is right. Some women do try to act better, but that's so they can prove that we don't JUST belong in the house doing dishes and cooking. In the past women had no rights, and now we're trying to become equal, even though there are still some men who are clueless.

it's backlash from all the years that the man has kept us down. Like black people and the NAACP. We just want to make sure we're not being taken advantage of again. Still most women make less money than men in the same profession. We're still not being treated equally.

Why are men always (for centuries) trying to show they are better than women?

because it has always been that men think they are better then women and we just want to be =. We can do anything men can do(well almost anything) ; )

Sometimes, its just to get equal treatment--for instance, often in the workplace women feel they need to be better than the men around them, just to get equal raises and promotions.

women today still face the problem that other minorities have suffered in this country. they have to excel, just to be considered doing a good job.
that, unfortunately, is the way of the world when you deal with unenlightend male dominated societies.
