Hey Dr. Sammy D, I like how you look at the college teams. There are a lot of great teams out there. I am a SOONER fan and would love to see OU win another one. It won't be easy, even if Peterson is healthy the defense has got to step up and do something with their secondary. The NCAA season is so much more exciting that the NFL and on any given saturday someone can rise to the level of spoiler and knock off any one of the teams picked to win it all. Thank God that the season is only about 50 days away.

Man this is ALWAYS a tough questions. Let's start with the contenders(in no order) USC(Trojans....not gamecocks),Notre Dame, W.Virginia,Florida,Florida St., Oklahoma and Ohio St. No surprise there other then the Sooners are back!! and WVU is a GOOD team in a BAD Conf. The Irish and Mr.Quinn need to beat USC in LA and Michigan at home(tougher then they think). The Trojans fortunes rest on John David Booty at QB, they have the talent around him..as long as he doesn't choke. Florida is Tops in a murderous SEC(again) with 2 or 3 teams hot on there tail. FSU is older and wiser with a team that should have beaten Penn St. and will take it out on the ACC with(in my eyes) only Clemson standing in their way..even without Charlie at QB ,Clemson is DEADLY. The Buckeyes are putting to much faith in their QB and it will cost them against Michigan
The Land Mines(Teams to watch for) are Clemson,Cal,Georgia,Auburn,Tennessee,Michigan,Iowa,Iowa St.,Arizona St., Boston College and Miami(FL). All of those are teams people EXPECT to be there..except Iowa St. this is a team that for 2 years should have been in the Big 12 Title game....this year they have the tools, QB,Wideouts and a killer "D"..The Cyclones MUST beat Nebraska again and they WILL play for the Big 12 Title(although OU awaits them)...for those curious Texas isn't even a land mine because even with that great "D" it will only get them 9-3(OU will win back the red river shootout). Among the other landmines BC and Georgia are ones to keep an eye on ,Both lost alot a talent but are still Solid in tough Conferences. The Eagles will make a run at the ACC title, but must beat VTech and The Dawgs have their hands full with S.Carolina,Tennessee, and Florida
So to close my Top 3 are 1. USC 2. Notre Dame 3.Oklahoma the USC-Notre Dame battle will allow someone to weasel in and the Clemson-Florida St. winner looks to be that team. The Sooners only need to beat Nebraska and Texas..but don't overlook A&M or Iowa St. Oh if Ohio St. makes it to the Michigan game and wins you can't keep them out...The Big 10...is THE BIG 10.

Notre Dame will be very tough. They have the formula for a championship: an excellent (possibly Heisman winning) QB, offensive talent, a good enough defense, and great coaching. Anyone beating them would be an upset, even if the tough Big 10. Come January the Fighting Irish will be on top.

LSU did loose some good players. I wonder if that new quarterback can summon the same magic he did a couple of years ago in the bowl game. I am from GA, so I am prejudiced for the SEC. Don't like conferences without a playoff game, so I rule out OSU, Michigan, and USC automatically. If it isn't your tigers, then I think it will be a repeat (yes, the dreaded Florida Gators). BTW... I used to travel and stayed in Baton Rouge a while. We were working around the campus. It was hard to stay focused with all those fine LSU girls walking around! At least you get the Gators at home this year... Can't wait for that one.

Clemson!
#1 rated Defensive end in the country, great defense anchored by aforementioned Adams and an NFL 1st round MLB Waters.
Offense returns entire O-line and ACC rookie of the year RB. Plus #1 ranked all-purpose-back recruit out of HS.
Deep at rec and TE as well. Great coach.

Last year Clemson owned the Head Ball Coach at USC and destroyed FSU at Clemson. If they beat BC on the road in week 2 watch out for the Tigers!

probably penn state university, although they lost a lot of emmorable seniors last year, their most importnat player iscoming back, joe pa. he is a mastermind. plus the qb this year is tony morelli, he was a 5 star recruit out of hs and he is finally goig to be able to strut his stuff against the big ten. go psu. go justin king and derrick williams, they were five star recruits two years ago as well. derrick williams was the best player in hsi recruiting class. #1. go psu, can u say "ship"?

I can't say Notre Dame, because of their meltdown in Fiesta Bowl. I'll have to go with Ohio State on this one.
