God no. George Carlin has gotten angrier and more bitter in his older age, and his humor has become ugly. It is different from black or dark humor, which is often funny ... but Carlin isn't dark or black, he is just ugly. He is full of hatred. If he were merely disgusted, he could still be funny--as in his earlier years, when he was merely disgusted, he could take life more lightly. But now he has grown to take *himself* way too seriously, and he believes the lies his mind is telling him: that he is a genius; that everybody on earth is an idiot; that his politics are the only politics worthwhile; and so forth. There is nothing less funny than an embittered old man trying to force his grim worldview on everybody else. It is sad and pathetic. This is what happens when one is moderately intelligent but has no faith or compassion. People like this get to convince themselves that the ultimate power is the analytical abilities of their own minds. And while an analytical mind is a gift, and humor is a gift, when you start worshipping your own mind, all levity disappears. Carlin's levity has vanished, and therefore he is no longer capable of entertaining.

If you enjoy his humor and his abrasive style, his newest book is still funny. If you didn't, he is still not funny.

Saw him on HBO a few days ago and he stunk. All he talks about is death and gross jokes. He used to be very incisive.
