The rinse water should be cool--to close the pores. If you rinse with warm or hot, the pores will open, and after cleansing, that's not what you want.

Cold water is ok, if you're rinsing in a stream or lake, but cool is preferable.

You should was with warm/hot water to make you pores open up and release oils and dirt. Rinse again with warm water to remove any soap or other cleanser still on your face then finally rinse with cold water because this makes your pores close up so that they look smaller and also don't let more dirt and oil back in

cold water closes the pores. If you feel your face right after you pour cold water on it, you sense this rubbery kind of feel to your skin, that's a sign that your pores have retreated/closed, that's a good thing if you've rinsed your face prior with soap and warm water.

Here's the best way to wash your face (as told to me by my Mary Kay beauty consultant):

Wet face with warm water (to open pores).
Massage in cleanser (I use the Mary Kay TimeWise 3-in-1 Cleanser)
Then (VERY IMPORTANT) wash off with a wet, warm washcloth. This will make sure you get all the dirt/makeup off your face.
Then just splash some more water on your face to make sure you got all the soap off.
Then PAT DRY. DO NOT RUB.
And apply moisturizer (I use the MK TimeWise Moisturizer).

You can get more tips from my consultant's website: www.marykay.com/adina_k
She's really nice! Ask her anything!

you would want to rinse with COLD water. You want to close your pores after washing. "to close!" means to finish. well, your finishing your rinse so close them pores. doesn't matter day or night. Hot water will open pores. That's how you would want to start your rinse. So then to finish,,, you know already...
