Last I checked. slavery in the USA was stopped long before I was ever born- long before my grandparents were born for that matter.

it is not a question of stopping slavery, it is a question of how the end result was dealt with after it was abolished!
It drove the economy to become strong and the course to abolish it was perfect timing. With out the past events of the triangle trade the USA might be Mexico or Canada today.
We would not have had the fund for the lousiana purchase or even expasion in the western frontier.
So again it is lincolns death and how everythign was dealt with afterwards that would have to be changed for the better.
We are only human an it takes a long time for Humanity to get use to change.
Africans and Jews (many others) have been slaves for over 5000 years. So for the USA to have a minor equation of equality within the past 60 years is an unbelievable achievement. Something that never has been accomplished.
Take a step back and look at history and the big picture. It is not Utopia (Perfect), but we are going in the right direction.
P.S. Slavery has not ended!! We (middle class and lower) are all slaves to the mighty (CURRENCY) MONEY!!! Economy (Banks) is the true ruler of todays world not governements!

oh, in the past, well if you did then all the black people would be in those sally struthers commercials that ask for less than a cup of coffe a day. With flies on thier eyeballs and soda bottles for shoes. Maybe it all works out in the end.

yes because it is wrong to in-slave any one no matter what race, religion of believe system they may have it is still the worsts thing one human can do to an other. It is still going on in this country today believe it or not and it happenes to women a little more then men but it does happen. today, right now right this second.
