I agree with spaz except I would put an additional fuel filter near as close to the carb or injectors as possible to catch whatever residual crap may be in the fuel line.. Good luck with that!

Sugar In My Gas Tank

Well, if you haven't run your engine, all you need to do is carefully clean
your gas tank.

However, the more you have run it, the more damage the sugar will have done.
I have never heard of a case where the engine stopped because it was
loaded up with sugar where it didn't at least have to be re-built.

I suppose it might gum up filters sufficiently to starve the engine without
actually entering the engine, but I have never heard of it happening.

usually you can drain or empty gas tank install new filter and you should be ok on the outs some type of gas additive may help if the engine runs but poorly. most if not all of the sugar should not pass through the fuel filter good luck and don't piss off anyone else.

If the engine has been ran at all you will have to get a new engine! If not all gas must be drained from tank and GAS LINE. Good luck!

If there is sugar in your tank, you should suspect the tow truck driver. He is either teasing you or part of a repair scam. As others have said it won't kill your engine, though it can clog a fuel filter.

You don't need to get a whole new engine (filters will do nothing
at this point), but you do need to take it completely apart- essentially rebuild it- and clean it.

I'd also shoot for a gas cap lock.

According to "Mythbusters"...... nothing a full tank of gas couldn't cure. According to the show, sugar in the tank has no effect on the engine's operation at all.

you may have to get a new engine.... how long did you run it with the sugar in there. you're probably gonna need a new gas tank too.
