Build a popular website. I own a fairly popular website and I get a guaranteed $250/month from one advertiser. My other advertisers generate between $100-$700/month each, so it is not a small sum.
If you spend a lot of time optimizing your site, and if it's not illegal, you can make lots of money using Google Adsense. Before they blocked my site, I was making $300-$500+ a month, and my friend spent a lot of time optimizing his site and he was making $1000+ from them a month.
So, your site has to be popular and you have to provide a good service. Then you have to sign up with advertisers, I'd recommend:
AdBrite
Google Adsense
Kontera Technologies
Avoid Clicksor because they don't give me much

In addition to my "job", designing websites, that is not a small amount of pocket money.

Only by selling all your old stuff on Ebay or Amazon Market Place, is amazing what people will buy, your rubbish is always another man/womans treasure!! I have done both to fund travels and you really can make quite a bit, also really easy to do.

that is a good question but you cannot make lots of free cash on the internet, i suggest you download limewire from: http://www.limewire.com and download lots of things that cost money and then write them to a disk, and sell them to people, that is a guaranteed money maker!!!

ive been using a method of putting bets on surefire things to happen. like if some team is leading 3-0 in football or some player is about to win a match, then put all your money on them. it is only a little profit, but its better than nothing
