Most babies get their first tooth between 5 and 12 months old. But some will be earlier and some later than that.

Most babies begin teething around 4 months, but often do not cut their first tooth until at least 6 months and often later... but do remember it can happen earlier than this... some babies are born with a tooth already.... if your baby seems to be in discomfort teethers usually help and some of the best ones are the ones which you can chill... another option is a clean damp washcloth, chilled or frozen might be more soothing for the child....

My daughter was about 4 and half months old when her first tooth started poking through enough to see it. When she started chewing and drooling all the time, I did some resarch on teething. I found that in general teething starts around 6 months to a year, but it's a hereditary thing, so if the parents started teething early, your baby could too. But, sometimes, teeth won't show up until well past their first year. A friend of mine has a nephew who is around 16 or 17 months old, and he still hasn't got any teeth.

Believe it or not, some babies are born with teeth. Each child is different. My son was 11 months before he had his first tooth. Look at the child's parents. While not a sure indicator, babies often get their teeth about the same time their parent's did as babies.

Lower incisors begin to erupt on "average" at 6mo age, but there is a very wide variation. Some babies are actually born with a tooth or more already in place, others don't have any until 1 yr of age.

All baby's milestones vary. My son got his first 2 teeth at 5 mo. He is now 8 mo and has 7 teeth. My niece is a year old and only has 4 teeth. All babies are different.
