Nothing other than being induced will help bring on labor. My boss had contractions for over a month and was dilated to 2 for several weeks, and her son was born 2 days before his due date. All the things that people claim will bring on labor don't work...old wives tales.

Your doctor will be takin' care of this for you soon enough...
You can't make it happen. Good luck with it: my daughter was induced at 42 weeks, and I got to live through 30 hrs of labour before a C-section 'cause the little bugger got stuck. The best part was the MASSIVE water-retention afterwards that made my legs so frickin' huge I couldn't even move them.
So my unsolicited advice: get a Csection if the induction drugs are not working very well! You'll be all the better for it rather than having two labours instead of one.

First of all it's common to be dilated several centimeters for weeks beofre the baby comes. This just means you have less work to do during labour. Second, be patient...once the baby is here you'll be asking yourself why you were in such a rush...trust me! There really isn't anything that is proven to induce labour, but you can try having sex, do lots of walking (lots, like hours and hours...go to the mall) or try drinking a bottle of castor oil mixed with orange juice (yummy!) That last one by the way will make you very very sick to your stomach, and you'll have horrible cramps, but the plus side is it's supposed to induce labour. Can you imagine going through labour being ill? I wouldn't recommend it. Just relax and catch up on as much sleep as you can...and congratulations!

Hehe...been there. Really there's not much to do. There are those who might tell you to try mineral or Castor oil, but often it doesn't work. You might try stimulating your nipples - this sometimes makes the uterus contract (or you could try having an orgasm, as orgasm stimulates the uterus into contractions). Otherwise, you'll probably just have to ride it out...or BEG your doc to induce...you may just need to have the amniotic sac broken, and nature will take over from there, since you're at your due date!

Ive been suggesting sex but thats still debatable. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20060708/hl_hsn/sexinlatepregnancywontbringonlabor) Doesn't hurt to give it another try though. ;-) Long walks, like go to a large mall and shop (or browse) for two or three hours that should help. It worked for a friend of mine. You can try exercising as well, like an elliptical machine or a treadmill. Also hot baths help too. Good luck, Im almost 31 weeks and feel like you feel already.

Well, the safe to do it is to go to your doctor and have him induce you. There are meds he/she can give you to start your labor. You can also have them pop your bag of water. I had this done with my first two babies. Don't go over 42 weeks though because the baby could have a bowl movement and get really sick. Congrats

Have sex........but the most important thing is orgasm. Do that as much as you can stand. Intercourse is not required and may not be advisable without your doctor's consent. But manual manipulation to climax should be okay. When you do it puts pressure on your uterus which is just what you want.
Have your husband help or do it by yourself but the more the better.
