I've never regretted ending a relationship due to the fact that the other person wanted me to change.

In fact, I've never regretted any relationship. I'm sure you're asking this to feel better about yourself because someone you thought you were going to marry or spend the rest of your life with left you. And I'm sure that's hard. But him regretting the decision won't make you feel better. I'm sure that if you paid attention during the course of this ill-fated relationship, you would have seen warning signs. But I'm willing to bet you were playing the "he'll change when I (fill in the blank)" game and he didn't. He probably just realized that you two weren't compatible and that there are other people out there who WILL be compatible with him.

It's hard to accept but I'm sure you picked the wrong guy to get hung up on. But at least now you're out in the dating world again and hopefully you can meet someone else that's been trampled on and you two can have a relationship full of compromise trying to avoid heartbreak for a second time.

Good luck!

Yes, I always feel regrets on a relationship with a woman that I spent so much time and grown an emotional attachment to.
Anything I have a passion for and then don't have anymore creates a void in my life that it once filled.
Especially if I had made marriage vows, I feel that I've failed or did something wrong. Maybe I could've worked things out or I could've changed something about myself. Or maybe my blind love and devotion didn't allow me to see the signs that the problems we were having were irreconcilable.
When kids are involved it complicates things because you want the best for them. You feel an obligation to stay together for the kids sake when your heart and brain tell you that you should get out of the relationship.
My answer is to start to do the things that make me happy...things that I have a passion for. Make this situation a positive one by going back to work, back to school, traveling, getting back in physical shape, writing or painting to bring out my emotions and let my creative juices come to the surface.
By taking care of myself and making myself happy I will find that others are attracted to my smiling face and confident aura that I display.

I haven't left yet, but things are so bad at home. I leave a piece of paper lying on the table or don't fill up the toilet paper shelf and I get reamed for it. I do all the dishes, do all the vacuuming, dusting, and earn over a hundred grand a year. And she still wants a divorce. I'm about to walk out but I've been married so long I would hate to lose everything. I should have 20 years ago.

I regret my second marriage, because I really didn't get to know her. Once I realized she wasn't the one for me, we already had 2 kids and now I'm stuck in a marriage that I really don't want.
