i looked up my ancestry and found out my family has a history of owning slaves and being harsh and creul to them so i feel so bad and makes me wana cry some times.. ='(

Nobody should ever be ashamed of thier color, it dosen't make the person. Your beliefs, morals and integrity make a person, not the color of your skin. So no you shouldn't be ashamed of being white.

No really, as long as your not racist and does not support racism, then you should feel OK about being white.
Yes the white man did some horrible things in the past. But that was not you.
If you really want to make an extra difference, marry a black or native American woman.

Not as long as you don't believe in slavery, you're fine. Too many people worry about themselves because ancestors made mistakes.
Don't be ashamed. Figure out what they did wrong and learn from it.

if you are thinking you should be ashamed of things that happened in the past, i.e. slavery, you had no control over it so why should YOU personally be ashamed?

No, never. You can't pick your heritage, it by chance and circumstance we are born who we are. Never be ashamed of who you are. The term "white" means nothing anyway. There is no "white" culture.
