think about it guys. obviously the monkey stole gold so hell have to find another monkey who didnt commit the mutany and take his blood to reverse it but what about barbosa you say? it has nothing to do with the gold or the gunshot wound. It is his ring, the very SAME ring that captain jack sparrow stole from the witches house on his first trip there. This leads me to believe that Jack sparrow is indeed not dead.

Because after the credits (in the first movie) there was a short scene where the monkey went back and stole a coin. That is why he is still undead.
Barbosa is still alive because his gunshot wound was either non life threatening or he was able to get a piece of gold, then after he was okay/undead (unable to die) he returned it, not being aware of the monkey with the gold.

Because the moviemakers wanted to have an undead monkey to bother the crew and for Jack Sparrow to give to the Voodoo Queen. I'm sure if you want to be supertechnical about it, there's some weird reason slash loophole thing that allows the undead monkey to still be around.

The curse was broken and it has only been 13 years time lapse since the first one ( according to Davy Jones and Jack's promise to serve him after 13 years as captain of the Black Pearl ) We all know how long monkeys can live so it was logical.

Why is Barbosa still alive also?
If the monkey were dead, he couldnt have used an any offering to the voodoo queen who found the Flying Dutchman

if you watch after all the credits have passed on the first movie, its shows the monkey sneak back into the cave with the treasure and steal a piece of gold again and restart the curse. (it's really there check it out)!!!!

Better yet what about Barbosa. Isn;t he supposed to be dead to. They both suffered from the Aztec Curse on the gold.
