They did for Ring 1 & 2 and The Grudge...

Hate remakes - totally against them, where is the art in that, if they can't come up with their own idea for a movie? I'm sure there are countless others in the works...like the Omen of recent...I say leave it alone - it was already done...

You said what I was going to say, they did it for those movies so why not another one? It seems like we're running out of original horror movie ideas, remakes remakes remakes.

Any day now, followed by every other Japanese film.

Studios remake these films as soon as they come out (sometimes they start even before it's release!) and it makes me wonder why. Do they consider people in the west too illiterate to read subtitles or do they think we are all racist in some way that means we will only like it if it is about a white American not a nasty light-brown foreigner(certain "types" round here don't know Americans are foreign, they think England is in America because Friends is on telly!).

What disturbs me most though is that they are really successful, maybe the studios are right!

Here's hoping you posted the question because you don't like remakes, not because you do!
