Oh, I could write a novel. Short answer.. it's fear and a pack mentality. Once you're conservative, it seems that you rarely think for yourself. You simply follow (and regurgitate) what other conservatives have said, no matter how hateful or ridiculous it sounds.

My parents and a couple of my friends are still conservative.. they drive me absolutely bonkers. Each time I try to have a polite political conversation with them, all they do is yell at me until they're red in the face, it's rather scary. Additionally, they refuse to listen to my points or answer my questions and wind up changing the subject.

I watched Bush's speech last week regarding the Korean missiles. I was just curious to see what he said. I, honestly, could not understand what he was saying. He made no sense.. babbling and acting like a kid trying to give a report in school.. a kid that didn't do their homework! I was actually embarrassed for his staffers and the reporters in the room. They would ask him a question and he would start babbling about something else entirely.

Additionally (I know I'm ranting but I'm allowed) For the last time, WHO. GIVES. A. ****. about Clinton getting a hummer? Republicans who play dirty and only cared about wasting millions and millions of dollars on a smear campaign, that's who. That's low.

Bush did coke and was an alcoholic. But the truth is even though I can't stand the guy, I don't CARE! That's his private life. I only care about how many people are dying because of him. That's something to worry about, don't you think?

The Bush Administration is doing the Job that the American People asked them to do. Blue Staters and Blue people in General need to realize that they lost the election in 2000 and 2004. Although it has made mistakes, they are doing the job that they are required to do under the constitution. And are doing that Job as well as any other President in recent memory. Unemployment under 5% GDP up over 4% per annum, interest rates in the mid 7% and tax revenue up and tax rates down ( up $250B over the estimate this year alone). All while fighting the global war on terrorism and a Spend crazy congress. The only real Problems I have with the president is the fact that he hasn't vetoed a spending bill yet and the pork is just piling up. Other than that he is doing an excellent job. Delusional? I don't believe there is an illusion on the facts. Delusional would be those Great supporters of Bill Clinton, Who did not help gays in the military, he just pushed them further in the closet, he didn't help health care, socialized medicine was defeated before it ever left the ground. Oh and after two attacks on embassies in Africa, he wouldn't drop a dime on Osamma Bin Laden. and we won't even talk about North Korea and China.

I don't know if there is a name yet for the exact phenomena, but it seems to be centered around these factors: an unnatural need for social affirmation, an inability to accept what others say as truth, a belief that ALL of law, society and environment can be controlled, the "let them eat cake" principle (they really are insulated from the economy most of us experience), the belief that "do it, then justify it" is an acceptable course of action (shoot first ask questions later), a NEED to trust a higher authority to pre-digest the truth for them and tell them how to act, often it is just naivete (they really believe this is how life is supposed to be).

We can't leave out that the republican party has spent a boatload of money to add support to the administration's failing paradigms. Corporations have been working for decades to determine how to manipulate public opinion to increase sales, the GOP has just applied this knowledge to politics.

This is actually the same question as "Why do some believe the pope is infallible, when previous popes have shown us this isn't the case?"

So, I can't say these people have to be delusional at all, just morally bankrupt or ignorant.

Tx Plan: Delusional enough to require a daily double dose of Haldol.
As for the Dx: Grandiose and religious delusions are probably held with the greatest conviction, whereas persecutory delusions may manifest when faced with reality. Need to find the exact etiology .... I'm not sure, what is your expert opinion Doctor?

The Bush administration is doing a good job--but not for us, the little people. The super-rich and Zionists are making out pretty good, though.
But don't be deluded into thinking that things will get any better. As long as those who truly rule this nation are around, it doesn't matter who is in office.

It's not delusional at all. Subjectively, the people you are referring to are either a) misinformed, b) having inverted priorities than you, c) benefiting from the pro-buisness policies of Bush, d) making their decisions based on irrelevant things, or e) associating good things that happen with Bush.

Apparently you don't have to be delusional at all because I have the up most respect for President Bush & his administration. No one is perfect...at least he is a christian & he is fighting for what he believes in which is more than I can say for our president before him. Clinton makes me sick along with his wife.

So many lost people, so little brains! Bush "WON" the election 51% to 49%, yet his approval rating was as low as 33%...therefore, not only do 49% of the people get it, 18% MORE of the people Get it too!!!
I wish it were a delusion, but it oh too true....He's THAT BAD!!!
