V for his first name...

DUB is another way of saying the letter "W"

I have several friends who call me BDub, as my name is Brian Werner.

Vernon is called that not because of the car...but because of his first name starting with a "V" and his last name having a "W" or dub...like if you tried to spell out the letter "W"...

Hope that helps

The same reason us Mets fan call David Wright D-Dub.

Just the initial of his first name and "Dub" like "W", thats all.
