Remove the phone's lid, and you should see a white dot about the size of a pencil eraser. If that dot is white, your in luck. The water didn't reach your cell phone's innerworkings. If it's red, the cell phone is water damaged.

There's ways to try to save a wet phone, but I'm not 100% sure they work. One is to dry out the phone with heat. The complete instructions can be found at http://www.wikihow.com/Save-a-Wet-Cell-Phone.

Another web site claims that immersing the phone in water helps. You can find that information at http://thecellphoneadvisor.blogspot.com/2006/06/water-damaged-cell-phone-what-to-do.html.

Before you do either of these methods, I would check to make sure your problem isn't a wet battery.

LEAVE IT ALONE! Do not try to turn it on. Do not plug it into a charger. Put it on its side, leave it open, and put it where it can dry out.

It's possible that the phone is fried, but there is hope with clean water. Let it dry out for at least 24 hours - 48 if you can stand waiting.

Then put it on a charger and let it charge for a few hours. THEN try turning it on again. I have had electronic equipment survive a complete immersion, but the key is that it must be completely dry before you turn it back on.
