Why can't they simply answer a question with "yeah buts" or simply answer a question?

Because liberalism is a mental disorder and one of it's symptoms is not being able to give a rational explanation of the liberal stance. All they can do is try to convince themselves that they are brilliant 'progressive thinkers'.

Possibly because one of the values espoused by liberals is your right to have an opinion that differs.

I can't speak for liberals or democrats as a group, nor am I one. But I often include questions as part of my answers on politically divisive questions, because my personal goal is to get people to think about the issues from multiple perspectives.

There is rarely one 'correct' answer to any complicated question. And as one person put it, days where there is an absolute right or an absolute wrong almost always come with body counts.

The problem with a lot of the questions asked on this board -- by both ends of the spectrum -- is that they make assumptions that are not valid. Your question appears to make several assumptions. First, that all liberals/democrats answer the same way. Second that they always answer with questions.

Even if those assumptions were valid, it might be because asking a counter-question is the best way to get the idea across. And unlike many conservatives (not most, but many), the goal of most liberals is to get ideas across and to allow diversity of thought and expression. The goal is not to say that their view is the only possible right answer, but rather to open people's minds to ideas and possibilities for tolerance.

That's what "ensuring the blessings of Liberty" is all about.

It's because liberals have no core values. Their values and opinions change with the shifting winds, so they're terribly afraid to ever give a straight answer that can be used against them in the future when they change their minds yet again.

That's when they end up making statements like, "I actually did vote for the 87 billion before I voted against it."

Perhaps if you tried actually asking a question with the intention of obtaining some insight, you'd get an answer......My question is, would you listen?

Well...after reading a number of the pithy responses, I have no answer....and it's NO...

Why do Republicans/Conservatives ask questions that they know they'll only get question-formatted answers back too?
