Get one if you are staying a long time, like a week, and are planning on going off-strip a lot (like to a concert). If you are just going for a weekend, then don't waste the money.
Where you are staying is close to a lot of top notch casinos at that end of the strip. There is a bus that runs up and down the strip that is inexpensive, and cabs aren't very expensive either, particularly considering that you tend to spend hours in each place, walk one block down to the next place, and spend hours there, too. All of the major hotels (yours included) have airport shuttles that will take you to and from the airport which is the only thing most people would really need a car for unless staying off the strip.

It really depends. Are you planning on staying on the Strip and not venturing far? If you're just going to casino-hop, it's really not worth it. Walking is faster - especially in the evenings and on weekends. If you're going to be wandering the entire city, then get a car. If you're just going to go from Luxor to like The Palms or the Hard Rock, it's not worth a car - take a cab.
I always get a car because I have friends out there that I go visit and they're spread out all over the city.

Yes, it probably will be a waste of money UNLESS you plan on leaving the main strip. I went to Vegas for my first time last year and all of the casinos are connected and there was so much to see on the strip that in 2 days we still could not see it all. (the strip is like it's own little city that you are better off exploring by foot.) Just take a cab to and from the airport. Save your money for the gambling, food, drinks, and shows because it's expen$ive!

yes. everything in Vegas is completely walkable or you just taxi. the only reason you would need a car is to drive there and drive home. once you are in Vegas valet your car and don't pick it up until you check out. luxor is in a good location, you have the little monorail system right there to take you to Mandalay bay and Excalibur plus you have the 4 corner walk way that attaches you to MGM and nyny.
word of the wise if you go on a taxi between the hours of 2pm and 4am tell them to take the back roads (Koval or Frank Sinatra blvd.) it will save you at least 5 bucks.
ohh and do not go north of the whynn. waste of land over there

no it would be a waste to get a rental car. Plus you would have to worry about parking and all of that stuff. Try to walk or take a cab. Maybe your hotel offers a shuttle to some of the more popular strips and casinos and stuff, call them and ask them. Then once you are there you can just walk around.

you really don't need one you can walk faster from place to place faster then you could drive and park most casinos only have valet parking so your wait time is longer. Two the bus runs 24/7 and a 24 hr bus pass is only $5 you can ride it as often as you want.If you plan to go to the dam or the grand canyon you might want to, but there's enough bus trip to those thing. Try not to use cabs limos are usual cheaper.
YOUR ON VACATION LET SOMEONE ELSE DRIVE YOU AROUND.

you can shuttle from the airport, then take a cab to the strip. the luxor is a little removed from it, but one cab ride and you're there. Plus, Excalibur, MGM are near your hotel. Don't waste your money (on rental cars, anyway).

Many of the hotels have car rental counters ....and you can rent a car for a single day if you decide you want to get away from the strip (boulder dam, red rock canyon, etc). You probably wouldn't need it for a whole week... there are busses, cabs, monorails...lots of ways to get from casino to casino.

no. plenty of buses & shuttles + walking fine as well. Bad traffic you don't want to drive in. Strip lenght about 3 miles so not that big. Can bus downtown to the actual Las Vegas.

Rental cars don't cost very much. We rented one the last time I went to Vegas. We did that because we didn't want to trust any of our cars.
