Emancipation depends on your state of living and state of residence. If you have a job to support yourself financially and are able to provide for a home apart from your parents, you can petition the court to get a declaration of emancipation from a judge. This is required in some states for people under 18, but in others, you may do this by simply declaring yourself emancipated in writing, and then your parents assume no responsibility for you. Look up your state's laws on the internet. You also become emancipated automatically if you join the armed forces or enter a valid marriage - however, you should not do these things as an escape route. It sounds reasonable to have your brother or grandmother adopt you, but a court would choose the most financially responsible and capable of caretaking for you to live with. Talk it over with your first choice, and as they are both adults, either one of them should be able to find some resources. For now, you can call Childhelp USA's National Child Abuse Hotline - 1-800-422-4453. A recording will instruct you to press 1 to talk to a counselor, who can assist you when you just need to talk about it and also can give you advice on how to escape. I wish you a lot of luck and success.

Although I doubt your brother could adopt you, your grandmother certainly could. Make sure you talk to her before you do anything though. If she agrees that it's a good idea, then you should talk to a lawyer, as you'll probably have to do everything in court, unless your current gaurdian (probably your parent/s) is willing to "hand you over" without a fight. If your home is abusive though, and your grandmother would be a good guardian, you have a good chance of her adopting you. As for emancipation, I believe that would be very, very hard for someone your age who has othe possible guardians.
Good luck!
Edit: You and your grandmother should speak to a lawyer before anything else so that you don't end up being adopted. I'm sure that a lawyer would be willing to do the work pro bono (free) if you look around.

in case you stay in England you would typically require Parental Consent, not when you're in Scotland. even if, given the domicile situation I propose you contact Social amenities. No 16 year old female should be sharing a room with brothers. The community Authority can assume Parental Rights with the contract of the Courts and as they commonly have few ideas even as attempting to re-domicile kids you'd be in a strong position to get their contract to stay along with your pal's relations. you do not favor to inform them you're a Lesbian, in case you imagine they might reason issues because of this. Is there an section LGBTG team on your neighbourhood? they could have a lot of adventure in assisting in those circumstances and components you with a lot needed help. there's a itemizing of links interior the pdf lower than, or you could contact between the Helplines.

In Oder For Your Brother Or Grandparent to adopt you is if your parents agree ,or you go to authorities and tell them that your being abused and they will take actions and you can tell them you want to live with whoever and most likely they will let you ,with no harm to your parents ,unless they are really abusive and they have too do something .

It is possible. We adopted my girlfriends 15 yr old brother, and she's 22. Before we did that, her 18 yr old sister had custody of him. Good Luck.

yes they can adopt you, you need to talk to one of them about it first, most likely the court will approve of your grandma....you need to talk to her, then find out what needs to happen next...you probably should go to the police station together and they can help you...but make sure she knows about everything and agrees first so you don't get put in a foster home....but get it taken care of if you are in an abusive home you need to get out of there....good luck!
