We live in the country and have a skunk hanging around, I have not seen him, but he sprayed one of my dogs 2 weeks ago, and every time we have the windows open, our house reeks of stupid skunk..how do I get rid of it?

If you can find out where he is staying, Under a Barn or Shed? Than you can sprinkle moth balls, That does the trick everytime....Just make sure your dogs can't get to the moth balls, that will make them really really sick......Good Luck

Moth balls never worked for me in getting rid of skunks. All it did was smell up the house. I stopped feeding the outdoor stray cats and that helped. Then this winter one of the stray cats killed several rats over several days and just ate the heads leaving the rest of the body in the yard. Now I find out that skunks will eat mice and rats so now I have another food source for the skunks. I have now put D Con rat poison out and the skunk is eating it like crazy. I was trapping and releasing but after 9 skunks and 1 possom I'm tired of wasting all my gas driving them out to the country. It's a never ending battle and I'm at my witts end.

Do you want to get rid of the skunk or the smell of skunk?
Skunks are scavengers. Don't leave dog food, trash in bags, rotting fruit or veggies from your garden outside. The skunk is coming for something. Be it food or water (if it is currently dry in your area). Don't give the skunk what he/she is looking for.
Time is the best cure for the smell of skunk on your property. On your dog, a good de-greasing shampoo helps. But, once the skunk smell has set into the porous fur of your dog, only time will get it out.

Wow...I know that feeling !!!!! Call your local village hall , they'll
give you a phone number to the local wildlife abatement office. They'll give you a trap to catch them with. Use small chunks of apples covered in peanut butter. You may catch a few other animals first
like squirrels or racoons but they learn quick. When and if you do get this trap dont set it anywhere near a building of yours, they will spray as soon as they get caugth. If you do catch one have a old blanket handy to cover the trap when the public servent comes to pick up the trap....been there and done that!!!!

Give that motherf*cker rat poison! Skunks eat anything. It is said that they are like rats because they love to eat garbage. So gather some leftover food and lace it with Ricin or cyanide or rat poison. Kill those stinking bastards! I would prefer a .44 magnum or a blowtorch if I ever see them face to face.

Place moth balls around you home outside. My aunt and uncle had the same problem and they used the moth balls and the skunk's left.

Research the web for what kind of food they go for, feed it 2-3 nights, feed it poisened the 4th.
