It could be stress or hormones that cause loss of hair you should ask your doctor and get tests. Massaging your scalp helps circulation to the scalp too.

People on average lose 1,000's of pieces of hair per day. Depending on how old you are, It could mean that you have reached the age where you notice it more. My hair falls out a lot clogs the drain if i don't brush it before showering every day.. With losing so much hair I would have figured that I would have been bald by now. All I have is a receding hair line.(and its not that bad yet, and my hair has been falling out like this for 10 years at least.. I wouldn't stress yourself over it, and yes take vitamins and eat healthy...

Not sure if you are male or female, but you may have developed a thyroid problem. This is usually accompanied by other symptoms, such as cold hands and feet, unquenchable thirst, and more. You should definitely consult a doctor to determine what the underlying issue is.
Best wishes!

get thyroid blood tests done. free and total T3 and T4, Reverse T3 (shows how much T3 your body can use outof what is made and available for use), TSH, calcium levels, etc etc. in other words ask your doctor for a blood test panel for thyroid disease.
menopause coming on? ovarian cysts?
have you started a new medicine lately? sometimes drugs in the suphur family will make people's hair fall out, like water pills that have sulpha, or glipizide the diabetes rx, or bactrim antibiotics to name just a few....
gall bladder problems will also make your hair fall out....issues of stress and control: being controlled by others, feeling out of control, feeling you have to be in control...the gall bladder deals with issues of "control" in chinese medicine and the gall bladder energy flow is under the scalp....

There are a lot of reasons, as to why you could be losing your hair. Some of the reasons are: stress, runs in your family, poor diet... stress. You might want to think about if you've been stressed out lately, and if so make lifestyle changes.
