You didn't tell us where you are interviewing. Just be confident (even if you feel your nerves bad - fake it). They will ask you questions like "why do you want to work here" or "what are your goals in life" -- all kinds of questions. Be ready with answers to them all. They'll ask you what you are looking for in pay - just say "that is negoatiable." It's your first job - don't expect a lot of money. That's ok though. Wear something nice - not too revealing though. Anymore, you could probably wear slacks with a nice top - I'm guessing you aren't hiring into a high official position of any kind, right? They'll ask you how you handle pressure - let them know you do better under pressure and therefore handle it well. Employers come up with the strangest questions anymore. I can't think of them all. You may want to ask a question on here "what kinds of questions can come up in an interview" -- be a little more specific at the type of job. Others can help with this. Just be ready with the answers -- if you sit there with your mouth hanging open (out of shock and not knowing what to say like I have in the past LOL but true). If you can be confident and come up with answers to all, you'll get the job. Good luck.

This is fantastic! Your first interview.
I'm glad you asked this question because it sounds like you want to do a good job.
First of all, don't take friends to the interview and make sure you are dressed appropriately. I'd wear something nicer than what you normally wear on a daily basis (if you were going to church, and wanted to be respectful, what would you wear). Also make sure your clothes are clean and that your hair, nails and shoes are clean.
Don't take any friends with you for moral support. You can tell them all about it later on.
Be prepared to answer a lot of questions.
You might be observed from the moment you walk on the premises until you leave, so be careful of what you say and do.
Also be friendly, but show your "can do attitude." and your confidence. As they ask questions, think about your answer, take a breath and look at them when answering.
I've conducted a lot of interviews when I was a human resource person, and what impresses me the most is self-efficacy. Which means that a person knows how to be effective. As you answer questions, think about how you can help the company and use that as a basis for your answers.
Explain to the person you are interviewing how you will be able to help them. That usually impresses them.
They are going to be looking to see if you can do the job and how you will get along with others. If you can show that in the interview, the worst that will happen is that someone else will get picked. But if you make a positive impact on them, you just might find out that they will remember you when another opening comes up.
When you leave the interview, thank them for their time.
Good luck to you!!!
But most importantly, once you get the job, make sure you continue to show them just how effective you can be.

This will be the first of many. Don't get your hopes up it is only an interview. Remember the person interviewing you is just like anyone else. I always prepare for the worst, and am pleasantly suprised if it turns out well. An old trick is to picture them in their underwear lol. Just be yourself and be confident. think of it as a learning experience. You will do fine, even if you do not get the job you will have learned something. Just try going after many jobs at once. Your odds of getting a job go up. One interview is just that one interview. But twenty interviews, now your putting the smash down. Good luck and best wishes. Oh wear something that is clean cut yet comfortable. Nothing worse than being uncomfortable and nervous.

A few tips:
1. Wear a nice pair of slacks or skirt, blouse or buttoned down shirt & tie and dress shoes if you have them. If you're interviewing with a clothing store, dress similar to the way their employees look.
2. Smile, act enthusiatic and interested in what they have to say...it goes a long way. Be personble, engage in the conversation meaning don't let it be completly one sided like the interviewer is talking to a wall.
3. Ask questions, and if you like everything you hear, tell them at the end of the interview.."this is a great opportunity that I'm very interested in pursuing."
4. Ask when you might hear back as to their decision, thank them for their time and get their business card if you can (or at least remember their name).
5. Immediately mail a simple Thank You note, or drop it off the next day with someone other than the interviewer. "Thank you for your time and consideration of my application for the XXXX position. I'm very interested in working for XXXX and know I can do a great job. I look forward to hearing from you!"
I know you're 16, and this advice may sound a bit much for a teenager's job, however everyone wants to employ a responsible young adult and no better way to leave that impression than to take it seriously, like an adult. Remember you're up against numerous other teenagers, so make the best of it and stand out from the crowd!

Wear something nice and professional. No jeans, No shorts, No tennies. Take a look at how the employees working there are dressed and dress a little nicer than that. If you are only 16 the place you are interviewing for might not be a professional office setting, so a suit is probably not necessary. A nice blouse and skirt (no minis) or dress pants are appropriate. (Guys - button down shirt or polo shirt with khakis are fine)
Just try to relax, be yourself, present yourself as a young adult. Smile, answer the questions the interviewer asks you honestly, and dont be afraid to ask questions yourself. It shows youre interested. Good Luck!

Sure! Wear something nice, like nice dress pants or a skirt. Make sure you are comfortable in these clothes so you are fidgety during the interview.
Definitely act professionally but honestly. Smile and look the interviewer in the eye occasionally, and answer questions the best way you can.
I had my first interview at 15 and didn't know any of this, but you should make sure to ask about wages, when you can get a raise, how scheduling works, etc. It saves a lot of confusion in the future. Ask these things at the end of the interview. You'll do great! I hope I helped! :)

Dress nicely-no jeans or tshirts. Interviews are nervewracking so try to breathe deeply. Just act like yourself, know what your best qualities are, let the interviewer know that you are a quick learner (you are, aren't you?). Don't lie about anything, if you do it will eventually catch up to you. If you are nervous and it shows don't worry about it, most interviewers expect that. And I always found it helpful to think that the interviewer is a person just like me, he(or she!) needs someone to fill a position, and that person might as well be me!!
Best of luck to you on your first interview!! I wish you well and hope you get the job.And remember, even if you don't get this job there are more out there, and you will have the experience of your first interview under your belt which will make the next one a little bit easier!!!

The most important thing is to relax and be yourself. Let the interviewer do most of the talking and answser their questions honestly. Don't gibber, just answer. Smile and be polite and friendly, and don't forget to extend your hand for a handshake both at the beginning and the end of the interview.
What to wear depends on what kind of a job it is. Your attire should match the surroundings you will be in. Wear something nice, clean and presentable.

Dress very nicely, with all your bits covered up. work out in advance what you might be asked, and what your answers would be. Questions may include: why do you want this job? What is your level of education? Why do you think you would be good at this? What are your goals in life?
And remember, even if you don't get the job, the interview experience is valuable. Learn from it!
