I am currently a Master's Student in the Field of Communication Studies. I am interested in getting my Ph.D. but was wondering if I should stick to Communication or branch out into business or education. I would like to eventally do Management consulting, leadership, or diversity training. What I would like to know is what are companies looking for? What would you have done if you could go back and choose any field of study? Would study abroad be a better choice for today's globalized world, or should I concentrate on somehting else for today's market? I am just looking for advice. Thanks in advance for you thoughts! :)

If you do not want to do academic research, you should not get a PhD. If you decide you want one anyway -- don't ever, EVER let anyone in admissions know that you want to work in industry until after you have been accepted.

If you want to be a consultant, get an MBA from a top school. Not only will you get good training for the job, but you will probably actually get hired.

if I could do it all again then I would take psychology as a major. Not only useful but fun too.
