45 million Americans don't have health care . Perscription drugs are being sold at record high prices. Do they care more about wealthy pharmaceutical companies than the average American?

Single payer financed health care is a cost-effective method for financing and administering a universal health system. " Ralph Nader is the only candidate who supports Universal Healthcare for all as a human right. Health, not merely illness should be a public concern. We could save at least $36 billion a years if we had a 'paperless hospital system'."

Actually, the factual statement would be that xx million don't have health insurance. All Americans, even those who have no money, can get health care. There are government programs to give people health insurance and presecription coverage and pharmaceutical company programs to help the poor get their necessary medicines.
Blaming the drug companies is erroneous. Drugs cost a lot because it costs a lot to develop and test them, and all that R&D money must not only be recouped, but also the R&D funding for drugs that didn't pass testing, as well as providing for some profits for investors, who make it possible for them to develop the drugs.
And what's this stuff about 'record high prices'? Homes are being sold at 'record high prices'. Soda pop is at 'record high prices'. Penny candy is at 'record high prices'. Amazingly enough, each year, things get more expensive. You're probably making 'record high' wages now, too. Stop with this line of nonsense, already.
----------------------------
You didn't do well on the reading comprehension portions of your standardized testing, did you? I said all people have access to health care, not coverage. There's a difference, if you were only intelligent enough to figure it out. But you're a liberal - no thinking involved.
Any person can walk into a hospital and get treatment, even poor people. In fact, the law is that hospitals have to treat all comers, which is why illegal aliens are putting a major load on our medical facilities.

the 45 million number is bs....
that figure counts me, a dude with health insurance who is a licensed health and life insurance agent. See, I left a job that had health insurance for me, and in the small transition to my new job, as an agent, I was not covered. I am one of those 45 million.
Then you have to count those who do not want insurnace, but can afford it. When you get down to the brass tax, abour 5 mil americns that want insurance cannot afford it. Hardly a crisi when it is 2-3% of America. By those stats, diabetes is a greater crisis.

It has
Bush in his 1999 debates promised the big drug companies that he would help them make more profit.
Check the stock value of the Pharmaceutical company's. Or the HMO's like the HMO the Frisk owns is doing great with the Senate majority leader as it's spokesperson.
Bush has done wonders for the health care business.
Watch what he does with AIDS medicine. He is about to approve a bill that will have you pay with your tax money for AIDS meds for Africa.

It does serve the best interest ($$$) of Bush and Cheney's friends, meanwhile a lot of Americans are getting either sub-standared health care where treatment of health issues is contigent upon whether or not the Insurance company thinks it is a valid claim, or they have no coverage. It's a f*cking disgrace, yeah we're the greatest country on Earth.

I think the answer is very clear. Mr. Bush has been in the President's seat for some time. What has been his major concern? His major concern has been and continues to be the War in Iraq. We, as Americans, are spending enormous sums of money on rebuilding Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries that have vast oil supplies. We can not afford to purchase homes or pay rent, health care, food, gas for our cars and heat energy in our homes, clothing, college, vacations or any basics. Yet, we are asked to spend our monies on supporting everything else in the world. We are proud, but broken down Americans. Mr. Bush will only be in the White House for a short period of time. He will not do anything more than he has to do. Remember, Mr. Bush is an American and a Republican. Usually that party prescribes what is best for their own party. We, as Americans, need to rethink what choices we have made and improve what new choices we will make. Look over Mr. Bush's record and see what he has done for you in the past and now. What can you expect from him in the future? It speaks for itself. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

WHERE do I start. Less see when did it become a function of our federal government to take care of all the health issues that people have. But I suppose if you had your way the Government would tax me to starvation just so your mommy could pop her peels, are a dope addict could get his fix ect. When I die cause I can't afford a home are food cause we want the Government to tax us out of all that then I hope all the people ought there will be healthy, cause there not going to be many of us left to pay the taxes to keep them healthy. People like you make me wake up in the morning and thank god the democrats didn't win the last election.

First of all, the Bush administration HAS done one thing-----they've added the prescription drug benefit to Medicare. Which, by the way, will probably bankrupt the country even faster.
I'm not saying that more couldn't be done for the uninsured in this country, but a question for you to ponder......why is it the government's responsibility?

Of course this includes the wealth who chose to pay for their own health care. And as per usual there are no suggestions on what to do. I have heard of Canadians flocking over the border to partake in our messed up medical system.

YEAH! Like... why didn't he create some pharmaceutical plan for the elderly so they can afford the drugs they need?!
Oh wait... Bush DID do that and now hundreds of thousands of our elderly now have affordable medicines! Guess I just had a brain-dead moment like you!
