hey i won't stop you from getting you dream guitar. Fenders are pretty good acoustics, i have one sitting next to me right now.
Now teaching yourself is somthing. I would recomend you getting a teacher. At least for 6 months. They will teach you music theory, basic chords and other guitar basics. Having a teacher is invaluable to all the advice you could get on the internet because being one on one will help out alot. After the teacher, or if a teacher is out of the question go to the music store you bought your guitar (i recomend buying it a music store so you can try it out) and buy a beginner book. my first was ernie ball. GOOD LUCK and have fun!

More specific. WHat model number is the guitar? I've been playing guitar and bass professionally for the last 7 years. It's not all that easy for most people to teach themselves. It takes a lot of time and patience. Your fingers will hurt at first and it will be uncomfortable. But with time, it will get easier, things will make sense. I enjoy playing, I enjoy working in and with bands. 60's music is nice to get started on, simple chord progressions and all. Keep at and don't give up. That's my advice. Oh, and click on my name to check out my bands and such.

I taught myself out of books, and it took maybe six months before I was any good. Things actually accelerated once I started jamming with other guitar players. Learning songs from them really intensified my interest.
I like those fender acoustics. They are easier on the fingers than a lot of other acoustics.

I would recommend either getting a teacher for a few months or teaming up with one of your friends or family members who plays just so they can teach you the basics. Once you get those down, teaching yourself the rest will be much easier.

I play, and with some help from my mom, I taught myself. I can't do much, but I have a book of Beatles tunes that I know. It's tricky to get started, but have faith and stay dedicated!

Get a Chord book & practice them, get song books of music you like & practice them, too. Take your time & have fun with it. Taking lessions could help but you may be able to do it on your own. Don't get discourraged ;-)

I thought it would be easy because I can play anything on the piano. I thought wrong.

You seemed so enthuastic at first then you say you wanted to play it bad. Why not endeavour to play it good, or even very good. Don't think of the down side.......................
