yes i do agree, there seems to be a cure for so many diseases these days, but there is not one for that, many people just have to live with it everyday, and for the alcoholic, drinking is just a symptom of the disease.
it is a family disease in that it affects the entire family of the alcoholic. i dont know if its been proven to be genetic, but i believe it is. for those of us who are in recovery, its an everyday thing, but one day at a time, recovery is ongoing, for the rest of the alcoholics life.
it is a matter of life or death, either to surrender and recover, or to die an alcoholic. i like this question, many people refer to the alcoholic as weak and addicted, and those people probably dont have to watch a loved one dying of the disease.
thanks for acknologing this serious issue, and posting your question, i just started up a new website dedicated to the alcoholic, the depressed, the dually addicted, and the family that stands by. its for information, but mainly to chat and blog with other people who have been there, to get some insite and find a solution. the best way to recover is to talk to another who has had personal experience in the area thats affecting them. please come visit me at www.threadsofhopeinrecovery.com i need people to chat and blog on both ends. its a place to put your problem on the table and maybe get some solutions.
"together we stay sober, alone we will get drunk. thanks again, hope to see you there.

um yeah i guess so. I don't think it's any more important than millions of other issues though. Maybe it's a big deal to you though if someone you know has been effected by it.
