I am the greatest diciple of Stan Lee. I would be an idiot if I couldn't match all these characters.
Marvel: Thanos, Deadpool, Antman, Firestar, Submariner, Silver Surfer, The LIVING Tribunal (Not the great Tribunal)
DC: Darkseid (you spelled it wrong), The Atom, The Huntress, Captain Marvel, The Specter.
Spawn and Violater belong to neither DC nor Marvel.
Please, give me a hard one.

With spelling corrections in all capital letters...
DC has DarkSEID, Huntress, Captain Marvel (with one magic word: Shazam!), and the SpectRE. Marvel features Thanos, Deadpool, Ant-Man, Firestar, Submariner, Silver Surfer, and the LIVING Tribunal. Spawn and ViolatOR come from Image.
It seems to me, based upon your list, that you like the cosmic, the mystic, the common man/little guy, and the ones that will kick rear ends and ignore the name taking.

The two are good places to start because they are the top two comic book companies in the world. DC has characters like: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter-If you know about Justice League that has a lot of the DC heroes in it Marvel has characters like: Spider-Man X-Men, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Ghost Rider, Punisher Hope I helped.

well I usually answer comic questions, but as DC is not one of my favs, I'll try
Marvel = Thanos, Deadpool, Firestar, Submariner, Silver Surfer
DC = Darkside, Ant Man, The Atom, The Huntress, Captain Marvel, The great tribunal, The specter
Image = Spawn, The violator
So how'd I do?? =)

DC is more about real people in a similar world as ours, trying to deal with things that we usually do, with superheroes added of course. Marvel, is more like a rebellious kid... With more metaphors (like mutants... which black people, gays, or anyone who was ever discriminated against can relate to)... and sci-fi stuff... I got this from the History of Comic Books series on the History Channel... Very informative...
