I ask this question as a simple provocation. I was raised Catholic, even attended seminary (so no misrepresentations of scripture please) Should we, as a people rise up now in our righteous indignation and attack directly, or should we bide our time until Religion (not faith) finally consumes itself in its own self hatred. I personally feel we should bide our time, religions of the world are beginning to show their true colours and many people do not like what they see. Please offer what answers you will but please be honest, as I said no misrepresentations from scripture, I have read both Latin and Hebrew texts so be very careful. P.S. for those who may use the King James, remember that it is not the true Bible merely a version commissioned by a British King to satisfy new laws he wished to justify.

I am pleased to see I have stirred the pot a bit. Now I must address some of you:
biwashington - Name calling is not debate
PaulS - Fair point
Unc - Provocative questions are necessary to stimulate debate and see what comes of it, look at some of the responses I got.
DjDenail23 - Excellent answer, you got the point
PSF11 - you first dear
Andr - Cheers

Don d - Can you read, I ask only because like yukasdog you did not answer the question, you rambled about something totally off topic
mithrandir - you have a good heart, sweet dear
Big bear - tis indeed close at hand

Violence will make the message heard (as it does in all covictions) but the trade off for this will be a cyclical violent trend fueled by anger and vengance, it will never stop! Becareful what you wish for!

I agree. Religion is a man-made thing. Faith is something totally different. I have faith, but I do not follow a religion, and because I'm a lesbian and I say that I am persecuted for it. My best friend is agnostic, and she is also persecuted. Why is it so hard to accept that everyone does not believe in the same thing as everyone else? I was raised a baptist, but I haven't been to church in almost 7 years. Why? Because I haven't found a church to my liking. I refuse to go to church to hear a man of God preach hatred against others who don't agree with his opinions-that's right, his OPINIONS-on the word of Christ. I can sit at home and read my bible if I want the truth-and I use that term, very, very, loosely.

I think its a good idea and I'm glad you said "Fanatical." There are some Churches who are just fine with gays. These are normally the same ones who are OK with science. Maybe we can combine with them! We will use fabulousness and science to defeat them!!
But on a serious note, if we get rid of all Churches it would be bad. People care more about what happens after they die then they're common man. They think, "I won't hurt them because God will get mad at me." Not "I won't hurt them because its wrong." This is good in the way that people that think like that won't hurt another as long as the Church is there. If its gone, there's no telling what they might do.
Lessening the power a Church holds over our thinking would be a good thing though. OK, I'm done rambling.

Well no matter what anyone says you are apparently going to have your own opinion intact as your duplicitous request for a discussion is a statement. That notwithstanding, and with religion (however individuals have subverted it for their own purposes) placed to the side, homosexuality is aberrant activity and is not "normal". Of course it exists and of course people that practice it feel what they feel and were born that way, but it is still not what was intended by Nature. Gender differences are designed for propagation of the species. You can attack all you want, even a child knows that this is simply wrong behavior. I am sure that you will call me hateful for saying that , but nothing could be further from the truth; I feel sorry for homosexuals.

I hardly think that gays are in a position to do this, and the "religions of the world" comment is FAR too broad. But the Christian Right is certainly the biggest problem faced by the United States today, and I'm definitely in favor of finding a way to address the problem.

Hey-- I know you're already working on this, but the sooner the better-- get AIDS.
<<<<<>>>>>>>
Uhm jon X-- Sorry-- but I need not worry about such a thing.
Cesquaq-- sweetie-- if you're finished your tirade about the validity of homosexuality, while insisting you know what I think-- REREAD the question to which I was responding. "Gays of the World should unite, form a Cabal of power to destroy fanatical Christian Right." I'm curious why one poster is entitled to a "provocation" while another is not.
Judging from your rambling, half baked response I suggest you beware who you challenge again in a match of wits.

Why should it be just the Gays...why couldn't the Agnostics and Atheists join this battle? For that matter haven't the Muslims been trying to eliminate the Christians for Centuries and haven't those same Christians been using the Jews to fight their battle for them? Religion is a crock it exists only to control and dehumanize the basic instincts of humanity. If we could only learn to live life respecting ourselves, others, and the environment than we'd all be better off. Take out the dogma, rules, and regulations that Religion imposes upon us and adhere to the SECULAR Laws (maintain the freedom to disagree with them...but live according to them none the less). PEACE!

PSF11: we're talking about you here! and please don't embarrass yourself by debating over your head. go read a book or something then come play with the big kids.
wasn't king james in a 12 year rship with a man? msg me on that. anyway religions of the world are loosing their grip on the position as highest law. people are evolving into cultures where government is still influenced by but no longer controlled by the church. science is proving our differences are actually similarities (color, height, sexuality) and the lines of all reasons to prejudice are blurring. like the racial debates of our recent past, soon sexuality will be accepted then become a non issue. especially when people realize that gay couples are part of the 'plan' to balance all the going forth and prospering. we are the check of couples that procreate.

No, I think we should strive for a harmonious co-existence. To become a destructive power would make us no better than our so-called enemies. What equality and justice for all would there be if we should obliterate those who hold opposing views?
Ex-Seminarian, eh? You may have lost your calling but no need to replace it espousing a vitriolic hatred...seems a little extreme. I realise that your personal opinion is not to do anything...but why the provocative question?

Are you suggesting that gays have a war against christian right wings? lol! Now personally I HATE HATE HATE HATE Right wing conservatives, I HATE HATE them lol, but never a war. I just think that it's time for gays to stand up and take action for our rights. The imigrants did it, and it was pretty successful. I think 500,000 GLBT people shyould march in Los Angeles, and thousands should walk out for our rights.
The right wing conservatives are very very misinformed. they have been brainwashed to believe that we, the GLBT people have chose to be gay, and that we are only gay for sex, and we're f*gs and all. Well that is wrong. I am gay but never in my life is sex the first thing that comes to mind to me. I'm 14 too, not 30 or 40 where my sex life is decentigrating [sp?]. It's time for us to educate the people like the chican @s and tell the right conservatives that truth.. that we can't choose, and that it's not about sex, or anything like that. I'm also a catholic.. not very religious, but i believe in god. religions have to stop critisizing gays and such. in all honesty, i thin kthat homophobic people just so happened to be pastors and priests, and they made excuses saying that their homophobia was caused because they are standing up for god. Well, standing up for god is not judging people, and to love everyone for who they are. standing up for god is to allow people to marry who they want, and not literally force them to marry the opposite gender so they can "become straight." Not only does it not work, but the husband or wife who is marrying the homosexual is not recieving the love they deserve.
the bible has less than 12 anti gay versus, or whatever they have. i believe most of them are in something that starts with a t, a part of the old testimet that most people no longer recognize or agree with. in that area or whatever it is, it also mentioned that wearing two different furs was a sin, and that you shouldn't eat clams or something like that. idk.. point being the bible isn't as homohpobic if you will as people think it is.
it's time for gays to stand up.. to form our own movement. the gay/straight alliances should be the new MECHaS. it's time that people support love.

You are a moron. If the gays of the world were to unite and try to convert everyone the the end of civilization and the end of the human race would happen.
I am bi, I enjoy both sexes but I know in my mind, body, heart and soul that being gay is wrong. By being gay it is taking everything God gave you and saying that it is not right. How can being gay be right? Humans need to procreate to survive and gays can not do that NATURALLY, therefore being Gay is NOT natural.
I am being condemned by Jesus for the lifestyle I CHOOSE. I was not born BI or GAY, it was a conscious choice. And I don' for one minute believe this crap about Gays whining about being born gay. IT IS DENIAL!
