I read an aritcle by Shelton Steil. White guilt and Western past.
it talked about why we fight war in such a minimalist fashion.
We feel guilt for being so Emperialistic and dominant in the past. We always feel that we have the moral lowground and need to prove we aren't mean selfish people. Thus, to denounce that stigma of our past we wont fight wars to win. We are more worried about our immage of compassion than we are American lives that fight for freedom. How long would it have taken us to win Vietnam and Iraq if we unleashed our full war power. 1 week tops. We fight like a great baseball team would give the less advantaged team 10 points so not as to appear boastful or too dominant. ( Weath Distribution) What happend to the (Strongest survive). The best team/ideas win) Winners and Losers. We are teaching our kids this now in the public schools. I'm not advocating only strong survive, but promoting rewards for winning, learning and effiecincy.

The problem is: who decides what is considered 'strong', you? Life is not like a baseball game. Sports games, card games, etc... aren't meant to affect ppl's lives... they are mere competition showing who might be physically more athletic or smarter strategically.

My definition of 'the strongest survive' is completely different than your barbaric one. I think it takes a lot more strength to stand up today for the 'true word' in the Bible. For example, Jesus spoke of the distribution of wealth and taking care of the poor, the weak. Those things that you so arrogantly judge as making you weak.

One day you will be facing GOD and Jesus on judgment day and as you are crying because he is sending you to hell, he will look you right in the eyes and say, "Only the strong survive, right?" Pt is you will be punished for this conviction... meaning since you believe this, GOD, being the all powerful and strongest of all, will make sure you reap what you sow.

I don't feel guilty and am beyond self-loathing. That's also the same with the liberal friends I choose. IN fact, I don't remember anyone at the Liberal Arts University I went having the symptoms you describe.

War is fought by military commanders, not by the civilian sector.
Currently, Rumsfeld is in charge of how we fight in Iraq. Maybe you should address your concerns to him.

Broad characterizations do not help either side of the argument.

I disagree with what you are saying. War is more than just blowing stuff up.
