I am a 21 y/o female who has always had an irregular period. Since I began having my period it is either 2 to 3 months apart. Once I started having sex, it regulated for a few months. I haven't had sex in 9 months, but 3 months ago I was fooling around with a guy, and he was jacking off while fingering me. I'm worried that he might have had pre-*** on his fingers, because I haven't had my period in 3 months. I think I had it 2 months ago, but I can't remember because it's been so long. I am overweight, but I have been overweight for quite awhile. I moved back in with my parents for the summer, and I'm not sure if that might be a cause of undue stress. I'm buying a pregnancy test today, but what do you think my chances are of being pregnant, and what else could be a cause of my missing my period?

Took a pregnancy test and it came out VERY negative! That was a relief, but I'm still worried about why I haven't had my period. I really appreciate everyone's help on this. My mother is going to get me an appointment with her OBGYN when she gets back into town.

Sounds unlikely you are pregnant. Buy the test and find out. In the meantime quit tearing yourself up about it.

I don't think you are pregnant. With your periods being as irregular as they are, it seems to me that you have a late period, or amenorrhea (absence of period) for a different reason than pregnancy. You really should consult with an OBGYN to check for potential problems. Especially because your periods are so irregular - it could be a number of things, like hormonal imbalance, not enough estrogen or progesterone produced to facilitate a period, even ovarian cysts can be a cause.

There is a condition that not a lot of people are aware of - it's called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. What happens is that the body has a hard time processing blood sugar and it affects the insulin ( this is called a prediabetic condition), when that happens, somehow it affects the ovaries and their normal functions. Cysts form in the ovaries, periods become irregular - sometimes you'll get a period in between 2-3 months, sometimes you'll get 2 in one month. Being overweight can put you at risk for having the syndrome. PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is one of the cause of infertility in women, that's why it is important to have it checked out so it can be treated.

Stress can cause amenorrhea as well, but as I am just going by your partial history of your menstrual cycle, I think that there is more to the problem of the irregular periods than just stress. See a doctor for sure, you will want to take charge of your health now than later.

Goodluck!

Buy the test, take it and if it's negative, don't worry. I would call your doctor and get checked to make sure there is nothing else going on. There are meds out there now that can help with irregular periods. Might be worth checking into.

There's always the chance that you could be pregnant so the test is not a bad idea. I would definitely go to the doctor's though because you are already having problems with your period. Perhaps the doctor could put you on the pill to help regulate your cycle and that would help with worries about preganancy also.

it is kinda hard to get pregnant with a irregular cycle. You should already see a doctor if you are skipping months without a cycle. I think you sound like you may have poly cystic ovary syndrome. Signs are very ireagular cycles, overweight, excaeesive hair growth, losing hair from the head. PCOS poly cystic ovary's make it hard to get pregnant even when you have cycles you may NEVER BE OVULATING. I had fertility drug treatment for years to get pregnant. It is okay not to have a 28 day cycle but, it should be 29 to 36 days are be regular within a few days of what ever time it comes. MONTHS without a cycle is a SIGN of a PROBLEM with your reproductive track. Go to a ob/gyn tell them what it going on.

well my fiance has irregular periods also, we did it 4 to 5 times a day for 13 days while I was in her country, and I pulled out every time, it has been 3 1/2 months and she is not pregnant. So my point is I do not think you are pregnant, but it does not hurt to check.

you said you are over weight and having irregular periods, i was going through the same thing. ask your dr to check you for PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome. I've had this for 2 years now. i went 4 months without having a period and it sometimes is caused by being overweight(trust me my dr fusses at me about it) it doesn't balance your hormones and causes different changes in the body. have it checked out.

You're right that stress could be causing the missed period, and not to get too personal, but, I was told by my gyn that you are more likely to get pregnant if you also climax, the act of that happening actually causes your body to take in the sperm. So if it was such a small amount and you didn't...you know...the chances are probably pretty slim. But, it could be a pregnancy so take care of yourself and good luck!

It is stress. Stress from thinking that you are pregnant from a non penile penetration and part of it is guilt from your actions. I suggest you better see a gynecologist to assure you and you can ask your doctor questions on sex , sexual transmitted disease and having safe sex. As for the irregularity of your period, I know your gynecologist would do an ultrasound on you.

Your chances are between 0:1 and 1:1.
