For the first question, it depends on where they are teaching. I've been in a school where the teachers were respected and appreciated by the students, admnistation, and parents, but I've seen the opposite too.
If we're talking about whether or not our society as a whole appreciates teachers, I'd say no, simply because of what they earn. All teachers are entrusted with an extremely important job- to shape the next generation, yet they get paid less than most garbage collectors (not that garbage collecting isn't important... I'm thankful to have someone haul all that away for me!).
But a good elementary teacher will be appreciated by his/her students if no one else. There is nothing like the affection elementary school kids can have for their teacher if the kids are treated with respect and kindness.

Elementary teachers r definitely appreciated!!
it is a very respected profession
yeah bt the pay may not necessarily b tht mch
bt i guess if u r lookin 4 a job satisfication then
it shud not b a problem
also u shud b good at dealing with children
its not everyone's cup of tea

It's not and it shouldn't be about the money for any teacher or else the need to teach would loose all meaning and pride. I know some fellow elementary teachers make 50k, that's not chump change if you ask me. But I do feel teachers are not appreciated as much as the should be.

I appreciate them teaching my kids!! I don't think they earn enough NO. Out of college they make around 25-30,000 a year. What you do for our children is priceless.

I appreciate all teachers. They should be getting paid what celebrities are getting paid. If it wasnt for them, this world would be helll.

They dont earn very much, but i think if they're good teachers, the students appreciated.
