the Zidane Materazzi issue. Some people are evidently pushing the idea the Italian made a racist remark. No one really knows what was said. These people seem to have an agenda and I don't like this. Don't play with fire!

...a 100% with you!! STOP ABUSING SPORTS FOR RELIGIOUS ISSUES!!!!

there are many rumours around at the moment (that materazzi said something against zidane's religion, mother or sister or even called him a terrorist or that he should go back to africa where he belongs...), as long as there is no evidence all the fans should be patient and stay calm. i'm sure zidane's red card will be followed by thorough investigation, especially because there are also rumours going on that the 4th FIFA ref enhanced the red card after a video analysis - which is not yet allowed...

in any case, both players should get together and talk about the problem in private and then give a press conference, apoplogizing to the fans.

even though italy won - and as an italian citizen, i'm totally glad about it - this was one of the most annoying games of FIFA WC 2006 because of zidane's attack after materazzi's insult.

Actually it was English newspaper (Guardin) who put oil into the fire claiming that Materazzi called Zidane "a terrorist". We are just following he news

You are right! (There I'm agreeing with you) No one knows what was said or what provoked the attack by Zidane. We may never know. But someone, somewhere will swear he knows what happened. I think only two people know what happened. End of story. It's over, too bad, so sad.

I agree totally. world cup is a world wide phenomenal - imagine the impact of the rumours. we don't know what/who behind those rumours, is it starting as an honest joke or something else more serious, but the effect can somehow very big. I think people stop speculating and maybe stop making sensitive jokes because not everybody don't know they were jokes and believed those instead.

I agree.

And if Materazzi really called him "terrorist", that was wrong, but don't blame him. In Italy Americans are always right (they helped us rebuild our country after WW2). Blaim Bush! ;-)

Is it not possible? Can you say what would provoke a man to headbutt someone in his last world cup finals ever? I didn't think so, but neither can I. It's just a guess. Everyone is entitled to their opinion or theories and to knock someone elses is just plain rude. It is perfectly legitimate.
