You seem in a pickle. All these heroin questions... someone close to you, I take it?
There are no easy answers with heroin, it's almost impossible to get someone off it, unless they want to be off it.
You need professional advice. Go to see your GP. They will be able to provide you with accurate information and put you in touch with support groups and the like.

That's a big question!!!
My first thought is to stay as far away as possible from any addict. Of course, that's probably not the answer that you're seeking. Heroin addiction can be placed into remission, with an inpatient detox program, followed by other proactive efforts on the part of the addict. I've heard of many cases where intervention does have successful results, but the addict has to want to stop. Usually they don't... they think everything is fine... It's the others that have a problem accepting the addicts position, that using heroin or ancillary drugs, "once in a while" is OK- It is far from OK, I agree that NA can offer some solace, comfort, advice and guidance. For sure check it out, before coming to any conclusions.
Another angle to your question... What do you do with a heroin addict? ... Do what they want you to do.

You should seek a treatment facility that specializes in heroin addiction.

Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do unless they really want it. I know it's an old saying but it is very true, they have to hit rock bottom before they'll admit they have a problem. But my advice would be not to fed their addiction by giving them money or the opportunity to buy anything. Get advice from a doctor or a drug website, (sorry i don't know any).
Be there for them when they need your support.

Pray. I wouldn't consider myself to be an overtly religious person, but people have been trying to answer this particular question for years and I'm not sure I've ever heard a saticfactory answer yet. Rehab and hope for the best, but understand that they won't make the change until they are good and ready, no matter who says anything to them.

Pray for them, support them and get yourself into a support organization like Al-Anon. When they come ask you for help, assist them in finding a plan.
